So I'm brand spanking new to Blood Angels, no experience with the old codex. Came up with 2 lists I'd like to try both but just want some feedback and see which people prefer or if I can make some changes that might work better. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what to do with the extra points, maybe lose the priest and get a captain with a jump pack and the Ap2 power sword relic along with a storm shield and put him in the 3rd Death company squad.

It looks like the sanguinary guard in your first list are overcosted. Did you give them a chapter banner and forget to put it in the list? Also, it is usually worth giving a sanguinary priest a pistol. It is an easy way to get an extra attack and only costs 1 point for the bolt pistol. I like your list and it looks like it will do well as long as you can get your reserves in at similar times. Dante should help with that, but min squads of assault marines will be eaten alive if they come in over a few different turns. The list looks pretty solid and I am sure I will be able to give you a bit more advice over the next few week as I playtest out some of my lists as well. We have a lot of the same models

thanks for the response and for the vote of confidence haha, and yes i forgot to put up the chapter banner, I'll edit that now.

Just after posting I'm thinking of dropping the power swords on the assault squads and just giving the sergeants combi-meltas for one thing. I'll also add the bolt pistol for the priest in the first list.

In the 2nd list I'm thinking of dropping the priest all together since with no sanguinary guard, all the Death company would get is the increased WS and just for one of the squads.

Well first off, I like the first list best, albeit with the weapon swap you mentioned on the assault sgts.

I would up the number of SG in the unit to take more advantage of the banner. The banner stays the same cost no matter how many are in the squad. I like the idea of 10 with a banner and 2-3 each of Infernus pistols and power fists.

Also, any power fists you take on DC, you should give a bolter too. As fists are specialist weapons, you gain nothing with pistols, but gain a shot with a bolter.


Other than that, I like the list alot.

Thanks for the response. Good tip about the bolt gun and power fist, I just don't know how to model that lol, the power fists and bolt guns are both right handed in the kit ><! As for the sanguinary guard, if I drop astorath, i can fit perfectly 10 in without compromising the rest of the list.

But I'd drop Dante for a Stormraven and rethink about the Pods.
Fast Rhinos would be an alternative.

hey, thanks for the response. I personally like using special characters so I think I'll keep dante. I plan on deep striking the assault squads so i think his warlord trait will come in handy, but thanks for
the suggestion.

Just wondering why do you suggest rhinos? I actually have little experience using rhinos/razor backs since i started playing 40k so im hesitant to use em cause I doubt ill run them properly.
I was going to use the tacticals in pods as a distraction so the death company squads could move up hopefully having an easier time, but I'm curious about your reasons.

Rhino Rush has been very popular in third Ed.
Just take two Rhino in concert where one takes the lead launching smoke and giving cover to the Rhino behind. Next turn leap frog.

I was suggesting a Stormraven since you lack anti air.

My Necron army comes up with four Night Scythes at this point level.
They can be a pain for an army with no anti air.
An ADL would certainly help.

I'm really unsure about the hand flamers on the tac sergeants, mainly because of the amount of points they are eating up.

I'm sure they can put out quite a lot of damage, but I think I'd prefer those point to be in a Sang priest boosting a death company squad, or even better, in a librarian boosting a death company squad. Could always drop one of the powerfists in one of the death company squads to boost a libby to mast 2 as well.

thanks for the response. I'm not sure about the hand flamers as well, I'm just interested in trying them out right now. I see a lot of complaints about the tac squads so I'm trying to make them hopefully get their points back, but we'll see. I'm thinking about dropping astorath in list B which i updated down the page, I haven't used him so I honestly don't know how good he is, and am thinking about just replacing him with a priest or librarian as you said. Is increased weapon skill for death company better than the rerolls to hits and wounds from astorath in the 1st round of combat? Also what tables would the librarian have to roll on to benefit the death company? I think i didn't go with the librarian at first because i thought with only 1 ML2 psyker he is likely to get denied alot.
