Hey everyone, i wanted to get some ideas from who ever wants to contribute. So i play Death Korps of Krieg, and ive been reading Dead Men Walking, and i wanted to add some narrative to future apocalypse battle. so i was going to to build a very small and weak PDF force, Made up of the remnants of a crippled PDF force that has been fighting to defend their planet for quite a while( veterans, officers, NCOs, wounded, beaten up dirty) , armed citizens ( rag tag pieced together uniforms, missing armour, missing weapons, civilian attire, conscripts) and protors ( local police force, shotguns, swat looking ) i didnt want to use any armour, special or heavy weapons other than the taurox ( spell check that) , some sentinels, and a few Valkyries. Lastly, i was going to make government officials, planetary governor, his family, royal guard and administrators, maybe some civilians running around or hiding or dead... haha i was hoping something like this could make for great rescue missions, narratives or story based games/ campaigns. etc. Its not ment to be powerful or game changing just something really cool to look at, an army that goes against what everyone normally does/ instead of making a badass looking super powerfull army, Im going for a weak, scared, slightly motivated, beaten down, tired, under strength look.

SO i would like to know what think of the idea!

I would also like to know what your opinion is if I use Cadian models for this, considering that they are considerably larger( bulkier) than DKOK models so it may look funny or just a bit off... what do you think??

I would also like to know if you have ideas where i can get models for soem of these ideas, ill tell you what ive thought might work.

PDF: my idea Cadians ( black uniform, white carapace) , but then i run into the problem stated above

Proctors: MY idea: converted Cadians to look more like planetary police and swat, less like soldiers. ( blue or grey uniforms, red high lights maybe, carrying shotguns or something)

armed Citzens: any ideas, i want them to look rag tag, mix of civilian clothes and military uniforms, able bodied men, ages 13-40 etc.

Planetary governor: idk what to use, i want him to be fatand old and wearing his old IG officer uniform, with his meadls, old pistol and sword etc.

Governers personal body guard: My idea : i was thinking a few vostroyans, or moridian iron guard, very fancy armour or dress uniforms

Refugees, casualties, and scared civilians : any ideas???

as for the armour i was going to go with a shade of blue

Let me know what you think or if you have any ideas!

All the Emperor requires of us guardsmen is that we hold the line, and die fighting. Its what we do best. We die standing.

You probably could do some fancy paint and model work using Catachan models rather then Cadian, they already have that rugged look your looking for.

Armed Citizens: File the shuricogs off some Chaos Cultists, or look into some old Necromunda models if you can get them.

Planetary Governor: Sounds like you want to convert Creed to me.

I'd favour Mordians over Vostroyans for the personal body guard, mostly because they're so uncommon. The only problem is that with your blue armour, they'll probably just look like Mordians. Oh... how about Praetorians?

For the line squads, why not look into Victoria Miniatures' Arcadian line?

That should be a very cool campaign.

If you have the cash and can find the models the necromunda models are just incredible.

Creed would make a perfect planetary governor. There have also been a number of FW limited edition sculpts of different advisers, etc. that would make excellent 40K nobility.

I don't know how much you want to stay with GW or if you don't care.

I personally have be working on a renegades and heretics army. Thus a needed a large number of autopistol or autogun armed civilian looking models without any armour. The best I could figure is;

I figure you average imperial citizen really doesn't have access to anything that much more impressive than us. It is only the gangers that look like mad max and the soldiers and officials that are walking around with obvious IoM iconography. I doubt your average citizen would even be allowed to wear the aquila or most other symbols. Not sure if this helps you.

Ebay seller Lazarus-Games has a few Necromunda models for sale I had my eyes on before I decided to go Blood Angels. And Schaffer's Last Chancers (other than the racially offensive Indian model and the ridiculous Cheerleader) and Gaunt's Ghosts models from GW would be easy to fit in as well.

Rules wise, this all sounds like you NEED the Inquisitor Henchmen. Making a simple Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor as a PDF Captain or something, then adding in the ragtag group you like. Add in more Inquisitors, get more Henchmen.

I would do everything I could do avoid using GW infantry. The Cadians and especially the Catachans are going to look like hot garbage next to the DKoK.

This is where I'd go for PDF:

Vic has some amazing looking not-guardsmen in a lot of different styles. The Arcadian Rifles make an awesome PDF force in my opinion, they look like the old metal Cadians only better.

Mix and match to get a rag-tag feel.

the victorian minature site is great thanks! im also looking into the wargames site. thanks fellas,
any more ideas, keep them coming please!,
they dont need to GW they wont be used for tournament or competitive purposes so non gw models are fine!,
as for the catachans, i was staying away from them becuase i am going for a rugged look but i am leaning towards weak and tired, under fed non professional soldiers, not steroids and bad ass rambos haha thanks for the suggestion though, still open to suggestions!
