I... actually don't know. Help?

Sheesh, my posts are going to cover this site.
Ahem, I kiiiiind of want to abandon (Abaddon? Gah, stop it) Chaos, and try to do the Imperial Guard. Now, I have a plan that might be taken from someone else here: To convert or add random bitz to every single unit. Now, I have some ideas for the moment:

- Using Skaven Clanrats to make Ratlings, i.e. to cut of the arms, add Lasguns, making longer barrels, adding SM scopes
- Making veterans special in some way, i.e. using SM Scout legs, using skull helmets (Maybe I've been playing too much CoD, but I really like the concept. Maybe order some Legion of the Damned heads from Bits and Kits?), changing the weapons like these ones:

and

- Using Ogre Kingdom Bulls as Ogryns, kind off easy with GS and bitz

That's all for now. Post your ideas, and I might update with some pictures of progress. Toodles!

Also, how many Lasguns does a normal box o' Shock Troops contain?

Marine helmets will be entirely too large for Guardsmen. If you could find Legion of the Damned heads separately (most are part of the sculpts to begin with, if not all of them) they'd be pretty pricey too.

if you want a great source of bits for making cool guardsmen, the Tempestus Scions box is fantastic. While it can make 5 badass stormtroopers, it has so many heads (berets and gas mask helmets) and fun fiddly bits that you can really go to town and make something unique.

Finally, the Cadian Shock Troop box contains 10 pairs of lasgun arms and 2 loose lasguns.

I'm currently building a 100% converted renegade guard army to use as allies for my iron warriors. I've got plenty of ideas as well as some finished miniatures. Heres a selection.

I like the conversion you got so-far.
That is what I would do for the 4+ armor veterans.
The green-stuff knee pads are well done.
Adding elbow pads to finish may be something to think about.
