So in summary:

Formation:
2 Warriors squads
2 Immortal squads
1 Monolith

Monolith returns D6 warriors and D3 Immortals to the field each turn to one squad
No risk of HP damage

No HQ or RC buffs

Deep Strike:
If you DS the monolith and then pop out all of the squads you could potentially take multiple objectives.
The squads potentially bubblewrap the Monolith.

If everything took gauss then a mechanized army (AM, TAU, Eldar, ?Orks?) might have problems since it drops in so close.
If the Immortals were maxed and tesla and the warriors provided assault protection for them, it could be problematic for CC especially considering the Monolith weapons.

It does seem expensive:
2x - 5x warriors / 2x - 10x immortals / Monolith comes to 670 pts
If the monolith doesn't come in then its becomes a real problem.

That's close to 30% at 1850 which seems manageable.

Its slow.
Once its on the board, it just plods across the field.
So either its to kill units or to sit on multiple objectives due to its foot print and obsec (or both).
It isn't jumping around the field to fit the Maelstrom missions.

Now if you take a second monolith you could shuttle troops back and forth as needed and GAs could hang around the second Monolith and buff those units as needed.

Taking five warriors in a squad would defeat the entire purpose of the formation, which is to get those d6 extra reanimations.

Can't reanimate a dead squad after all.

The formation really doesn't do all that much for current necrons. The force org that lets you re-roll res protocols of 1 is the real nice thing!

So no RC's?

That's disappointing. Would be a pretty interesting formation if you could have haywire teks and the like.

I heard about this yesterday in fact. it's pretty friggen brutal I must say. the monolith becomes target #1 and you have to annihilate all the others around it to do almost anything to the army.

413th Lucius Exterminaton Legion- 4,000pts

Atalurnos Fleetbreaker's Akhelian Corps- 2500pts

Strength/toughness 8 C'tan with double abyssteks teleporting into enemy lines sounds fun. So does a strength 8 ap1 lord with 2+/3++ that rerolls saves of 1 and rerolls reanimation protocols of 1 with a res orb.

With the formation does this ::
Monolith returns D6 warriors and D3 Immortals to the field each turn to one squad

Only apply to Immortal and Warrior units in the formation, or could you run are bare bones warrior/gauss squads just to bring along the repair machine Mono?

Combining the two (assuming the Mono repair ability works) I got this:
Spoiler:

HQ 650
Phaeron O-lord w/Res Orb/WS/MSS/SW = 180
Phaeron O-lord w/Res Orb/WS/MSS/SW = 180

RC #1
Haywiretek 25
Reslord 65
Pulsetek 55

RC #2
Haywiretek 25
Reslord (Staff of Light?)65
Pulsetek 55

Troops 680
10xTesla Immortals 170
10xTesla Immortals 170
10xGauss Immortals 170
10xGauss Immortals 170

Formation 500
Mono 200
5xTelsa Immortal 85
5xTesla Immortals 85
5xGauss Warriors 65
5xGauss Warriors 65

Total 1870

That gives you 50 bodies (including the RC and the Olords) with 3+ AS (mostly) 4+ RP re-rolls to 1's, as well as 10 Immortals with 5+ RP RR 1s and 10 Warriors 5+ RP Reroll 1s.

That's a metric crap ton of resilient metal bodies to have to work through. With two turns of army wide Stealth to boot.

Obviously, the OLords each grap 2 Haywire teks and jump in a Gauss squad, the 10 man Tesla squads grab a reslord and a Pulsetek each.

I kept the Olords pretty strong in CC to have some element in the list. As an alternative, you could strip 35 points off each to afford a second Mono or a pair of NS (working up to 2000). Of course to work this down to 1850 you could just strip some gear of one of them.

Also thought up this bit of silliness:

Spoiler:
HQ
140 Olord Res Orb Phaeron
140 Olord Res Orb Phaeron

RC
100 4xHaywiretek

Troops
260 20 x Warriors
260 20 x Warriors
115 GA
115 GA

HS
200 Mono
200 Mono

Basically two double haywire hiding 20 bricks lead by two ResPhaeron Olords and backed by a Mono and a GA each. The GAs provide cover for the Monos and repairs for the Warriors. Use the Monos to extend the threat range of the haywire and gauss. Total 1530 as is. It still needs at least one more troop for the formation. I would recommend getting at least one 5xWarriors plus double Pulseteks (175) and throw it one of the GAs. You can get a similar unit without the pulses for 135 to throw in the other one. You probably want to add at the very least WS/MSS/SW to both OLords, as well, those bricks need to be prepared for anything. That leaves you at 1920. Zandrek is obviously an option here as well.

Would be a fun, if clunky, list to play. Throwing those bricks around the Monos, casting a 24" diameter of death wherever the two of them go.

Also, 40 Warriors with 4+ RP w/re-rolls to 1 and two GAs backing them up? Good luck with that.
