Even before then legally you were not allowed to have slaves in England or at least as I understand after helping on some research projects in this area at work.

Since Somersett's case in 1772. Not that it has anything to do with this.

Exactly. This topic comes up from time to time, and the answer is always "Games Workshop is a company full of pasty white British guys."

It is really not a valid reason.

What's "valid"? Your arbitrary set of personal values?

Well, that's what any moral judgement ultimately is. But, I do think that forgetting that people of other ethnicities exist does not give a terribly good impression of a person.

When I ask the same question I'm called a racist. I try to stay away from such topics as people will just try to make you look as bad as possible for not agreeing with them. Drawing the racism/sexist cards for instance.

It is always politics; maintaining status quo is politics too. When people say 'can we leave politics out of thing X', it means 'I don't want include anyone who is not a straight white male.'

Original fluff -> Codex: Armageddon -> Current fluff.

Even in current fluff, their skin is jet-black (like, Citadel Paints "Chaos Black" and their eyes are glowing red. You regularly meet black people with glowing red eyes?

Their depictions in Codex: Armageddon also show them have Caucasoid features but dark skin (and sometimes blonde hair), and their codex describes them as daemonic in appearance, with jet black skin and glowing red eyes, which has often frightened people so badly that it has quelled rebellions without a shot fired.

Where are you getting from that they ever were caucasoid? They used to be regular black dudes, often with blonde hair. And it was a good look. I really hate the retcon, it made them look stupid, and erased the little ethnic diversity that the marines had.

Look at blondie up there with the sharp, Aquiline nose.

So you are basing your judgement of their ethnicity on the facial features of a 28mm model? And of course such a nose shape is quite common on north africans. It is a bit strange to claim that models obviously painted to be black people, are not supposed to be black people but dark skinned white people...

Sudanese seem pretty black to me...

In any case, your whole conclusion is absurd. Because the Space marine models have certain facial features, does not mean that a space marine painted black is not supposed to be a black person. Do you similarly think that White Scars are not actually supposed to be mongolian-looking, because GW has used the regular SM models to represent them?

The actual point-of-fact is that GW does not currently intend for the Salamanders to be "Black" in the way we mean. They mean "they're black like Chaos Black paint, and have glowing red eyes."

Yes, we all agree on that.

This is the original fluff.

This I am not buying, at least not without some pretty hefty citations. They were panted as African black in Rogue Trader, in RT era SM painting guide, and in the C: Armageddon. That's the original design. And if there was some 'they were always supposed to be like that' -explanation after the coal-black-retcon (which I have only seen repeated on the internet forums, but always without a reliable source), then it most likely was just a postfact fabricated justification.

There are elderly and injured people equipped with baby bottles for that.

But it's English for "Satan".

Funny. It didn't even occur to me that 'Lucifer' would be the offensive part. But calling a regiment composed of black people 'something blacks' doesn't seem like great idea to me.

That's true; heavily muscled women is just disgusting and unattractive in my mind, along with the vast majority of mens' minds.

Everyone of course has their personal preferences, but do you think it might be a tad rude to describe certain people's appearance as 'disgusting'?

Primarily because men feel a need to dominate and softer women are easier to dominate.

What the everliving feth?
