I love the Space Wolves as a close-combat based army as well as for their fluff and just about everything about them. However, before I met the glory that is Space Wolves, I made the mistake of jumping for the first Chapter that I kind of liked; the Blood Angels. While I love the Pre-Heresy blood angels and Sanguinius is my favorite Primarch, Blood Angels Chapter is definitely not my favorite and they are only a mediocre codex at best. When I jumped to BA, I bought the BA Battle Force, then Assault Marines, then Sanguinary Guard, then I found the glory of Russ. When I started building my SW army, I realized I would need to buy a bunch of expensive TWC and other units I don't want to spend the money on. I decided to continue in my venture, and I bought a squad of ten Grey Hunters as well as a Drop Pod. So I guess my question is, who would be a good, semi-competitive alternative to SW? The full list of units I have is below:

- 1 Squad of Sanguinary Guard
- 2 squads of Assault Marines
- 2 Sqads of Tac Marines (one squad built as Grey Hunters, the other unbuilt)
- 1 5-man Death Company
- 1 Rhino
- 1 Drop Pod

So what should I switch to so that I don't have to spend a boatload of money? Or should I just keep to Blood Angels until I have the chance to build a Space Wolves army?

I thought the brand spanking new blood angels codex seemed pretty good. Everyone on here seemed to be happy with it (as much as people on dakka are ever happy... meaning they complanied, just less than usual).

Seeing as its only been out a matter of days, I'd say stick with blood angels and try it out before you jump ship. They do have the best history and a cool primarch story.

Otherwise, buy thunderwolf cavalry. The are pricey, but with games workshop all the good units are expensive to buy. Thats why they make them good. So you buy them.
