Just curious on how everybody uses zoanthropes and venomthropes....like what are good units for the venom to shield, and what role fits the zoanthropes the best?

also what is a neurothrope?

I like to use Zoeys are durable Synapse, the WC, and Powerz of the Hive Mind is pure gravy. I run them in Broods of x2, but that is a meta thing, most do just fine, with them solo.

Veins are a "must take" unit for most, you need at least one to counter Alpha strikes. I strongly suggest using them to cover you main units like LAN s or what I call "Bugstars" (a combo of MC, screen, and support) so most lists do well with two, with one being critical.

A Venom can hide the Flyrants Turn 1 before they can take off, and cover the Carnifex as the swarm pushes forward. Obviously LAN needs their help as well or any other big bug formations or group.

Zoanthropes I actually like running them in pairs. With the 3++ I can risk Perils without as much worry and with 6 Psyker levels in the swarm minimum (Zoa brood and two Tyrants), there's a very good chance of getting the double shot Warp Blast off. I have been having great luck slaughtering infantry with it nowadays using the blast template version but not as much with the Lance version. Low BS and I am a friggin ace at rolling ones... Slap them in with the main walking force, Termagants and twin Dakkafex in my case, and they serve as a nice anchor.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Neurothropes are like more angry Zoas. They can make extra WC points for the blast of the other Zoas. I haven't seen them in action yet.

Don't forget the malanthrope. He is 2 venoms in one with T5 and a lot of other fun abilities for 5pts less. I have had a lot of success running him rather than the venoms that can get popped by the lucky krak missile
