Here is a model that I painted. Here is the update. I put the images next to each other so you can see some difference. I tried really hard to thin all paints this time.

Okay! Well, yeah, that's Belial alright. Yikes.

There's a few things here to consider:
1. Thin your paints. Everything here appears very thick and gloppy, especially on the detail work.
2. Washes. Washes are your friend with light colors in toning things down, and highlighting details. However, it appears you have gone with....Nurgle's Rot?
3. Basing. The model doesnt appear to be flush with the base at all. There might be some shaving down to consider on the bottom of the model so it sits correctly.

If I come across a little harsh, I apologize, but it's because you've got a lot to improve upon. People here can help out with that.
I'm not sure how long you've been painting, so if this is one of your first models, it's an OK effort.

Thank you for your input House Griffith. I admit it is a terrible paint work. I didn't thin the paints.
I washed the model with sepia tone.

I guess the next step is to stock up on Simple Green, strip the model, file down the bottom of the model so it is flush as you mentioned.

I'll give the model one more try.

Start off with Iyandan Dark sun with a small amount of brown and lightly cover the whole model.

iyandan dark sun Is then painted on the raised areas leaving the receses the original darker colour, when the model is done add small amounts of white to the Dark sun and progresivly paint it ONLY on areas that the light will catch, finally just use plain white to do the extreme highlights on edges that would catch the most light.

Always water down your paints, too thin is always better than too thick.

The method described gets you this

If anything wasn't clear just pm me and I will do a mini tutorial for you.

Its not bad - if you want to improve your technique, here are a few tips:

-Test fit your model, make sure everything fits properly and there are no gaps during assembly
-Plan your colors before painting
-Thin your paints down (use a wet pallet - to make one you need parchment paper, a paper towel, water, and a pencil case); this also goes for the wash (not sure but it looks like you used Nurgle's Rot rather than a brown or black)
-Start painting a base layer and move up. If you're going to use a really light color (bone) then start with the darker colors first so you can touch them up at the end
-Use multiple layers
-Have patience, nobody here started out as a professional painter. It takes time to work your way up.

Good luck and keep on painting!

Practice on some generic space marines rather than the 1 special model everyone will want to look at, you can paint 10 of them before deciding you need/want to restart. Less paint is more. You can always get more paint if needed, but getting rid of excess is difficult. Maybe a smaller brush size, there looks to be some overlap. Aside from that stuff, avoid caffeine. After doing precision pistol shooting for years, I know how much it can make you twitch with fine motor functions. But certainly keep trying, no one ever gets it he first time.

Chaos. Good News

Here is my second attempt at painting Belial. I airbrushed the prime coat and this time I thinned my paints. The fine detail was difficult so it still may not look perfect.

That looks literally 100 times better.

Thinning the paints makes a huge difference!

Also, consider during a satin varnish after your base coats with the airbrush; it'll make the washes stick to the crevasses better.

Waaaaay better second try though
