Before the new codex came out, I felt that I was finally happy with my BA list. However, with all the changes that the codex has brought, my list is now obsolete.
After reading the codex a few times I have come up with this small-model-count but elite army list

1500 BAAL STRIKE FORCE
LOW
Dante

HQ
Mephiston

TROOPS
8 Marines, MG, CM, DP 167

5 Marines, DP 105

ELITE
5 TH/SS Terminators 225

FAST ATTACK
8 Assault Marines, 2 MG 156

5 Assault Marines, 2MG, CM 115

Casteus Assault Ram 275

INQUISITORIAL DETACHMENT
Inquisitor, 2 servo skulls, psychic comm 61

GAMEPLAN
Dante joins 8-man assault squad
Mephiston joins the 8-man tactical squad. Prescience, Quickening and a roll on biomancy.
Inquisitor joins the 5-man tactical squad
TH/SS terminator start in the Casteus Assault Ram

Turn 1, small tactical squad with inquisitor comes in using a servo skull in the backfield to guide them into line of sight blocking terrain and onto an objective.

Turn 2, Inquisitor rolls for psychic communication. Mephiston's squad arrives on a 3+ and the rest of the army has a 3+ re-rollable reserves roll. Use the other servo skull for more accurate deployment of deep striking units.
Dante's squad, the small assault squad and Mephiston deep strike in and open fire with the melta. Meanwhile, the casteus rams a vehicle or tank shocks a unit before unloading the melta pie plate.

Turn 3 onwards, All units charge into combat. Mephiston buffs either himself or Dante using psychic powers. Casteus supports with ram/tank shock attacks and the magna-melta blast.

Obvious lack of AA but hard to fit it all in at 1500 pts. Would love at least one priest but, again, hard to fit in.

What do you think??

It's a bit sad to see 5 Tactical Marines in a Drop Pod without any special weapons, perhaps trade one of the eight ASM for a Heavy flamer?

I would also advice to get three Drop Pods, that way you can Deep Strike two in the first turn, reducing the chance you will be tabled (because that would mean an auto-lose).
Perhaps on the 5 ASM?

Mephiston can only take 2 psychic powers. He always knows the sanguine sword (boosts S up to 10) which makes him a monster killer, but probably not what you were hoping to hear. My advice: give the termies a chaplain or a priest, that way they either hit harder or live longer.
Don't know the rules for a casteus assault ram so I can't help you there... You do know sergeants can take two pistols right? Just thinking if you wanted a bit more melta-based death you could always opt for assault sergeants with two inferno pistols, but the range on those things is shocking. if you're gonna give Mephiston Prescience, I'd recommend some heavier firepower. Think SW player: librarian with prescience; long fangs with heavy bolters/ missile launchers. I'm not suggesting for a minute you stick Meph with a bunch of devs, but have a think about his psychic powers.
Looks pretty good from here, though.

Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Both, Mephiston and Dante at the 1500 pt level is too much.

Drakeslayer, I realised after I wrote this that Mephiston can only take 2 powers. I put combi-meltas on the sergeants to save points and also because it increases the effective range of the unit.

I have taken the Casteus ram over a Stormraven because, although it cannot attack ememy fliers, it can preform a ram attack and fire a large melta blast on the turn it arrives.

These two attacks should hopefully make up for the lack of fire power which this list possesses.

Kangodo, I have only one squad coming in on turn one because i want to hide it behind LOS blocking terrain this is why I have taken the servo skulls to hopefully ensure that I can hide the unit for a turn.

I have never used a Casteus assault ram. Can anyone comment on their effectiveness?

Also, I feel that a priest would greatly add to the survivability of Mephiston's squad but i would have to lose the Inquisitor to fit a priest in. Is it worth losing a little more predictability on the reserve rolls and deep strike deployment to give the squad FnP?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
wuestenfux, I definitely understand that this list isn't fool proof but do ou not think there is a way to include both characters in one list?

Yes! These days you need 3+ for reserves half the time, and things automatically arrive on turn 4. FnP makes your terminators that bit more unkillable and it buffs mephiston a bit. Also improves WS by +1. Hell yes!

Is psychic communion still a thing? I thought the latest faq took it out?
