Hey there guys. I'm currently painting up my custom SM chapter, and ascetically they're based around Black Templars and Dark Angels (I love robes). I'm looking for some inspiration for adding green stuff extras to make my marines unique. So far i've come up with scrolls on the shoulders, hanging from the belts, etc, but I'm struggling to think of anything else.

What type of stuff do you think I should try?

Maybe you could do some kind of smoking censers hanging from weapon grips. Other ideas that popped into my head were, tomes, or other such things. More information about the chapter could help.

Lots o Litanies written on armor looks very cool.

smoke censers are way cool on BT DAs and are readily available from DA and skaven bits

Oh, the rest of my army info is:

Name: Knights of Mortis
Colour: Light Grey, Deep red robes
Legion: Unknown, an amalgam of Dark Angels and Black Templar Marines (I'll use BT Chapter Tactics)

That's the basics, I'm thinking up chapter fluff as I paint 50+ models. I'll post a pic of 3 models I've painted aswell as my WIP Chapter Master when I can (My phones camera is terrbad)

you should use a Sword as it. as it can be both DA and BT

throw subtle hints at DA or BT is always fun

But yeah Black Red then gold censors and detail bits would look Really cool

Lots of banners and backpack banners as well would fit the theme of crusading.

If you want to add some depth from the name Knights, you could add swords to each figure, as the sword is the symbol of chivalry. One ones with swords drawn, a scabbard is always a good idea. Just an idea

Well, every squad leader has a sword of some description (Chain or Power), the highest ranked officers use Halberds and have GK armour.

I paint scripts and sigils onto their armour on the shoulders and legs.
