I'm going to preface this with the fact that this is probably a case of army envy.

For being the most psyker heavy army in the imperium, grey knights really only have generic librarians, while may other chapters get psykers that are superior to grey knights.

BA get librarian dreadnoughts and mephiston,

Ultra marines get Tigerius

Dark angels get Ezekiel and this new data slate.

But grey knights are only allowed basic, albiet ml3, librarians. I just think it it wierd that a force specializing in psykers get no special librarian characters or anything. Now it could be argued that grand masters and draigo fit this description, but I feel like we should at least get a named librarian or something... or a special prognosticator formation.

No. No one 'deserves' anything.

I don't really see why GKs have Librarians anyway seeing as they don't need a specialised psyker since they're all psykers.

cause most grey knights are only moderatly powerful psykers, not really all that powerful on their own and work together in groups to acheive the power level, Librarians tend to be fairly powerful by themselves.

That said the GKs are pretty short on special characters of ALL stripes these days. it'd be nice to see some new ones.

Of course they should. SM, DA, SW, BA and RS have powerful Librarian SCs despite only having a few dozen psykers each to pick from. GK have a thousand to pick from.

Yea it is a bit odd the psyker chapter who regularly churns out ML3 Libbies don't have a named character, I would give bonus points were it a character in Power Armor, with an option to give them a Interceptor pack. Something the GKs haven't really seen yet.

Do you even know what Librarians are and what they do for their chapters?

So, I'm gonna go ahead and say that you just hate grey knights. You really don't understand how they work or what they are capable of. You just seem to irrationally hate them.

I don't hate Grey Knights, I thought that my point was valid as why do psykers need a psyker dude to do psyker stuff that all psykers can do?

A Librarian's an adviser, but isn't that essentially what a Brotherhood Champion is?

GKs don't have Chaplains, so why do they need Librarians?

GKs do have chaplains, just not on the TT, thank you for bringing up that point!

To be fair, most of GW's authors don't seem to know either, to most they are just boomsticks.

I don't think I've seen an actual explanation for why the Librarians are psykers (who don't use spellbooks) printed since 1st edition.

It's in the novels. I couldn't tell you which one, as I don't read them.

Novels aren't necessarily true to an army's fluff as it gets outdated. If it isn't in the codex then its not necessarily true.

Such as the Fire Warrior novel: Kais is corrupted by Khorne, but nothing in the codex says that they can be corrupted, so not necessarily true.

Deserve? What the hell are you talking about? Since when was there such a notion in 40k?

It appears to me that since all Grey Knights are Psykers, and the
666 chapter does have named characters, then it does have named librarians by default. Any special character tends to find a niche within his chapter. Be it as a Psyker or a mundane character.

Then how about the Crimson Slaughter and Black Legion supplements, along with dataslates like Cypher and Belakor? Chaos has certainly been given a lot more than some others have. It's not top tier, certainly, but that's just the way the current trend is going.

Besides, players not allowing Forgeworld is a problem with the players, not GW/FW.

Who doesn't allow forgeworld anymore? I would say most forgeworld units are pretty balanced except for the Fire Raptor, which is just a liiiiittle too much oomph for its cost.

There's so much IoM cheese in Forgeworld such as their IK, SM tanks like a 5HP Landraider (I thought that 4 were bad enough) etc.

Sure, why not. Any ideas on the rules for unique GK librarian? Maybe make him weaker than the rest? As GK have plenty of strong librarians and the weaker one would be actually unique. Some ML1 guy.

And with that, I think you've proven just how much you don't know about 40K. Debating the "merits" of your claims belongs in a different thread, so I won't bother here. But I doubt intelligent and honest debate is what you're really after.

I am kind of split on this because I don't necessarily want a named character Librarian leading my army and quite honestly, the generic Librarian is pretty powerful on his own and quite affordable so tactically, I can't justify it. My Librarian is a beast in everything except wound count.

Fluff wise, sure it would be awesome to have a Librarian that is an example to all when it comes to fluff but even this I don't think is really needed in a force like the Grey Knights. Librarians tend to be loners. It is even put forth in The Emperor's Gift that Librarians come from powerful psykers that can't exactly fit in with a group since every squad is psychically linked. A GK Librarian is so powerful and independant that this link is hard to establish with his brothers so he is sent off to the Librarium to better tune his powers and stop holding back the group so honestly, given that explanation, having a hero Librarian might be kind of hard but not impossible.

I don't think I would use him either since my GK Librarian is a reflection of self in the game for me and I don't like using named characters constantly in game. I highly doubt that character always showed up in that many battles and such so I tend to shy away from it. I like having awesome generic HQs than relying on named characters all the time. It would be cool to read about and all but yeah.

I get what your saying, but then I really wish our generic HQs had more custom options. Like Power armor so we could attach good HQs to stuff like purifiers and not give up sweeping advance.

Sweeping Advances aren't all they're cracked up to be. Half of the codices are flat out immune to them and a lot of the rest have ways to mitigate their effectiveness.
