Hello, fellow Dakkaites!

I've been looking for a new army after having to sell my Tau, and I wanted something more choppy. After the new codex came out, I decided on BA. The list is for a narrative campaign, so it needs to have Dante, a libby, and a Sang Priest, but other than that I'm open to any suggestions. I know for a fact that my opponents are going to be bringing fliers, including a Stormraven and multiple Dakkajets, so I need to be able to account for that in my list.

HQ:
Libby - 90
Bolt Pistol
Jump Pack
Gillian's Staff

Sang Priest - 75
Jump Pack
Bolt Pistol

Elites:

Death Company - 390
4 Chainswords
4 Powerswords
2 Thunderhammers
6 Bolt Pistols
4 Hand Flamers

Troops:

Tactical Squad - 140
Rhino
Heavy Flamer
Combi-Flamer
Meltabombs

Tactical Squad - 140
Rhino
Heavy Flamer
Combi-Flamer
Meltabombs

Elites:

Assault Squad - 115
Drop Pod
2x Melta
Combi-Melta

Assault Squad - 115
Drop Pod
2x Melta
Combi-Melta

Heavy Supp:

Fire Raptor - 225

Sicaran - 175
Lascannon Sponsons

LOW:

Dante - 220

That leaves me with 50 extra points. I start with everything but the drop pods in the table. Since I only have 2, I was planning to try to bring them in T2. Something I was considering was dropping an assault squad for an inquisitor + acolytes. This would give me more melta per point, as well as an inquistor to grab some servo-skulls and the liber heresius.

Thoughts?

1) Upgrade the libby to level 2.

2) For the DC, I suggest only have ~1-2 Swords and then 1 Power Fist. Thunder Hammers are much cooler models, but rulewise the Fist is superior.

3) I also reccomend running 2 units of 7-8 DC compared to 1 large unit of 10.

4) Remove the Hand Flamers. These are pretty useless tbh. These extra points could be spent elsewhere.

5) Maybe add some Grav bikes?

6) I wish I knew what the Forgeworld stuff did, but unfortunately I don't so I can't offer much advice there.

1- Done

2- Why? Aren't they both specialist/unwieldy?

3- Sure.

4- Are Inferno pistols any better?

5- This could be an option. I just never considered running bikes without allying in Smashfether.

6- The Fire Raptor is a 12/12/12/HP3 flyer with an Avenger bolt cannon, a pair of 6 shot twin linked heavy bolters, and S8/AP2 missiles. The Sicaran is a tank with a 6 shot rending autocannon. I added lascannon sponsons.

Sicaran with lascannon sponsons is only 175? I thought it was like 200-220 points.

3000 points
1500 points

Yeah, its cheap for the price.

I love the model, too. With how much damage it can put out, i try to throw it in any list I can.

Drop pods have drop pod assault so 1 will come down turn 1.

Also I'm not familiar with BA characters but I believe you need the Reclusiarch to take 2 relics ( fire raptor and sicaran are relics)

And yes both are really good options. If you concerned with fliers take the autocannon turrets on the raptor. And if you not bringing a reclusiarch you can use the sicarans points for a siege dread in Lucius pod. Its kinda fluffy too since its all about the flames

As far as I'm aware, the Relic rule means you can't bring multiples of a relic unit, not multiple relics. In the new codex, there actually isn't a character with Master of Relics, anymore. The Reclusiarch is gone.

Here is what the rule says for Relics of the Armoury.

"One Relic Vehicle of any type may be taken in a space marine army's primary detachment, within the usual provisions of the army list. However, if more than one model with this rule is taken in the primary detachment, it must also include a Keeper of Relics purchased as an HQ choice....."

and if you want to take an ally with a relic, the ally HQ must be a Keeper of the Relics.

I took a look around and couldnt find any listing about who the HQ choice would be now :(

GW nixed the Reclusiarch..as for bikes, I recommend a tank hunter unit. 3 bikes (2x meltagun, 1x combi-melta) and 1x attack bike with MM. I would definitely make the libby a lvl 2 as well. That should leave you 25 points and if you dump one of the ASM squads you can run the melta-bikes. A good trade off IMHO as the melta-bikes aren't a suicide/throwaway unit like the ASM are.

1. Inferno Pistols are much better (S8, AP1), you just really need to get in close (Which isn't really a problem because, you know, they're Death Company.

2. I would actually rather keep a unit of 10 Death Company. Call me oldschool, but I like to attach chaplains to DC. Even with the new codex, you still at least have re-rolls to hit if you don't take Astorath

3. Are you planning on attaching the Librarian to your Assault Squad? If you're deep striking, it's kind of a waste.

4. I was pretty sure Sicaran tanks were for 30k only. I was wrong

This is what I found in Forgeworld;

"One Relic of the Armoury may be taken in the army’s primary detachment, within the usual provisions of the army list. Further Relic vehicles may be chosen, in which case the detachment must also include a Keeper of Relics purchased as an HQ choice. This character must be a Master of the Forge in a Codex: Space Marines army, an Interrogator-Chaplain in a Codex: Dark Angels army, a Reclusiarch in a Codex: Blood Angels army, a Rune Priest with the Saga of the Beastslayer in a Codex: Space Wolves army, or a Warpsmith in a Codex: Chaos Space Marines army."

Since the Reclusiarch was removed, we can only have one relic then?
