I've been away from the hobby for awhile i was an ork player during the 4th edition

I'm considering getting into chaos space marines, after reading up on some fluff and codex/supplements and i want to play crimson slaughter.

I'm just wondering is it worth buying dark vengeance and its chaos expansion ?

Hello! Not to get into too much detail, but if you are looking to have an army of chosen - then it is a really good buy. Otherwise, I would just buy the cheap lord off ebay or a trade (as it is a rather cool looking model). The hellbrute will be an odd addition to any of your lists, when (IMHO) maulerfiends, obilts and what not do the job better.

Regardless! Welcome to dakka, and jump over to the army list building forum when, you get a better idea of what models brought you to chaos! There are a lot of helpful folks who will respect that you are really looking to build your list around X and Y.

Hey! Welcome to Dakka Dakka!!! Wow fourth! What was that 8 months ago? Lol just a jab at the frequent rules changes.

Dark Vengeance has some outstanding models but only go for one set as they aren't posable kits. I found an extra set someone had for sale before I realized that. But it was really for a good cause anyway.

So in my opinion the Dark Veneance Chaos models are well worth it, however I do think that they will make the generics kits look like garbage! I'm hoping GW will do a chaos figure update sometime soon because I personally can't stand the Terminatos Chaos is stuck with, nor do I care for the CSM's at all. So I have thought about getting into them but buy Forge World stuff or the 30K. After all the fallen Astartes turned when MKIIi and MKIv armor was in use, I'm going to seriously consider that next year.

Heya fellow new guy I have the Dark Vengeance box but for the other side of the coin (Dark Angels)- I think It's good value especially with the mini rules etc. I can't talk about lists and the miniature value as I am also a total 40K noob - nice models though.

DV expansion is nice for models you want to paint, not for ones you plan to use.
