Hey guys, I was wanting to do a little something different with my space marines instead of the big chapters that most people do.

Well I settled on the storm giants because the color scheme is something I like. Though after looking at lore, it seems they are suspected of being a salamander successor so my question is this. What color skin would the Storm Giants have? I know salamander has obsidian skin with glowing red eyes I think correct? So would the storm giants be like that as well?

I just want them to be lore friendly.

Thanks
Mitchell

Edit: eye color was wrong.

Armies I'm piddling with:

CSM - Crimson Slaughter
KDK - The Wrath

Probably not. The Salamander's skin color is because of a combination of Vulkan's geneseed and the radiation of Nocturne. Without those two things working together their skin color would be whatever is native to the Storm Giant's home world.

After looking through god knows how much stuff, I found this at the bottom of this article: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Storm_Giants

"Physical Appearance
The Storm Giants have long been suspected of being a Successor Chapter of the Salamanders due to their similar, larger-than-normal physiques and tendency to develop ebony skin due to a mutation in the DNA of the Chapter's Melanochrome gene-seed organ, a flaw that is only known to effect the gene-seed of the Salamanders."

Also they don't have a home world, they are a fleet based chapter without a fortress-monastery. But I digress, I remember reading about the salamanders and it seemed you are correct that the color was based on the Radiation from Nocturne... so I'm curious about the wikia explanation on them having similar traits as size and some having the skin tone of the salamanders.

Some of them do due to mutation, according to that. Like some humans are albino due to mutation.

So, I could make some the standard tan skin and some obsidian skinned then.

Yeah, that's how I interpet that bit of fluff anyway.

The Storm Giants are the chapter FFG made for the Deathwatch RPG right?

I'm always skeptical with Warhammer wiki, there is a lot of unsourced info and pure fan fiction in there.

At the end of the day, it is your army. Paint it how you wish.

Yeah I have no idea. I just have always loved the necrotic flesh coloring and it seems to go well with the red's. So I figured I'd do this over the ultra marines, blood angles etc etc etc

Yeah see I have no clue what is cannon or what isn't and honestly this army will probably be played using whatever chapter tactics I feel like for that day lol. So probably the standard white face would do okay lol.
