Hey,

Ive noticed the only model gw sell is the one on a thunderwolf. But how do you make your own? I was thinking the model out of the wolf guard termie pack the one with the cloak. Is there any better ways and would the model out of the wolf guard termies be a good model for a wolf lord?

Just take any bits you think look suitably cool from the kits you have available to use, preferably the more ornate stuff like the cloaks, larger weapons, detailed helmets ect. Give it a suitably distinctive paintjob and you're done.

Thats what im thinking, the wolf guard leader looks very unique was going to give him a distinct paint job and still thinking of a weapon loadout

I too kitbashed the wolf lord on a thunderwolf model. Bought it used for like $10 from my local hobbyshop. Used some lizardmen bitz to doll him up all nice. I gave him a power fist and a new shield (all from LM bitz) and the wolf i gave a dragon head and tail to make him look like something out of a myth, complete with a gold paint job like many if the mounts in Norse myths. I think he looks pretty good!

Kitbashing works well, you can also find some great 3rd party models if you want them to look very unique. Scibor Miniatures makes some fantastic minis for this purpose (and they sell freaking BEAR CAVALRY):
