For those that dont know, its a FW model from the dread mob list and ... IA8? Its in Apocalype 2 as well I think.

Basically an 11/11/10 transport for 10 orks, that can be turned into a 12/12/10 vehicle. 65 pts base. Can be turned into a fast vehicle any turn on a 2+. Comes with 3 big shoootas base.

Also has a plethora of upgrade options, many of the big ones drop the transport capacity from 10 to 6.


One of the interesting parts is that it can be taken as a transport for big meks, so doesnt use up any valuable force slots. Even if you take it separately, its an elite instead of FA or HS.

So how would you equip it? Or use it?

Personally im wanting to convert one into having a shokk attack gun, but I'm not sure if this is worthwhile... a SAG junka would sit in the backfield throwing shots, and so would waste the "fast" type as well as the transport capacity. A big mek could do the same job for less points and have gitfinda. The model would look cool though.

Alternatively, I could give it 3 twin-linked rokkit launchers, and load it up with tankbustas, and have it be a speedy rokkit box.

Any thoughts?

Another fun little accessory would be the 2x grot bombs. Only 30 points, and some nasty big pieplates. Still drops the transport capacity down to models though.

I like the junka for its ability to be a dedicated transport for a bigmek. Also by giving it a KFF its effectively a vehicle mounted KFF for a reasonable cost (140ish), which means that the KFF extends from the hull, useful for a BW rush list or in general vehicle heavy.

The SAG seems quite pricey at 100 pts, so your looking 165 without anything else for a SAG on a 11/11/10. Although saying that I would love the SAG on it, but only due to the fact SAG's are AWESOMESESES!

Although, give it rokkits and grot bombs, load with tankbustas and watch the mayhem fly.

With standard rokkits its;
3 rokkits, 6 tankbustas and 2 grot bombs. Or 6 rokkits with twin. 110 and 155 for each setup. The single rokkits seems way more cost effective (15pts to upgrade a rokkit to two rokkits seems a waste). Although with tankbustas the 'fast' option may be a little of a waste, as you'll want to be shootin'!

Hmm maybe;
3 Manz, MA big Mek and just give it the skorchas?
therefore keep it cheap, so almost like a trukk except its got skorchas!

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.

My junka's are full of burna's/ard-boyz and used offensively. I haven't found the shokka to be effective on it. If you want something for gun's i recommend you use use the big trakk. I have 2 of each and there awesome.

The grot bomms + rokkits + tankbustas are how my junkas are currently penciled in as, though the SAG and KFF options do make me think twice.

If I avoid the "big weapon" options that reduce capacity, then I could fit 4 MANZ and a MA big mek, give the big mek a KFF to give the junka the 5++ save on the run in, and then when it dies the MANz still get a 5++. Could be a nasty little platform. 3 Rokkits and a unit of MANz in a fast vehicle.


edit: If the big trakk could take grot bomms I would be very happy. Unfortunately the Junka is the only vehicle that can mount them. And they are such fun little blasty dudes.

Something to remember though, is that the Junka KFF is not a normal KFF.

In the new codex a KFF is a 5+ invulnerable, but in the dreadmob codex the junka KFF is a 5+ cover save. Which does make a difference against some weapons.
Though it does have a wider bubble, due to the bigger vehicle base size. Just something to keep in mind.
