Jealous that Horus is Warmaster

Are Eldar close combat units (Striking Scorpions, Banshees, Harlequins and Wraithblades) worth taking?
And how have they improved from the last edition?

Scorpions and Wraithblades can be nasty if used well.

Banshees are incredably difficult to use - T3, 4+ armour, no assault transport vehicles. Exarchs can't take Paxes anymore, still only S3.

We have house ruled the Eldar codex quite a bit to make the terrible units usable and the broken ones - Cheese Serpents - tolerable.

A Seer Council is an excellent tarpit unit.
It's harder to break than a coconut.
The other cc units are meh in the current edition which is mainly due to the edition being mostly shooty.

Scorpions seem to be the most viable because stealth. Their stats suggest to me the can take on some pretty tough squads. Biggest issue is no assault vehical but a map board with a lot of cover I can actually see them being pretty hard to deal with.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Scorpions can do things. Kinda an Assault Marine-equivelent unit. Bullies. Less maneuverability, Infiltrate, and love cover.

Banshees take a lot of support, but can do things OK if well supported.

Harlequins make Banshees look fantastic. Easily the worst unit in the Dex. Probably worse than most Dex's worst units, too. Still fun though.

Wraithlords, the Avatar, and Phoenix Lords aren't competitive, but can be fun, and can get things done.

Storm Guardians are bad. Even for melee, just take Guardian Defenders. Little potential for Melts guns, but probably not.

Wraithguard I'm not familiar with. Slow and tough, but even once they hit combat, they don't do too much for their points.

You can get units close enough to eldar to assault them?

I personnaly swear by Striking Scoprions. I consider them my favorite unit in the game (I also play Orks, Dark Eldars and Militarum Tempestus) mostly fo nostalgic and design reason. They make very good ambush units if you play with a solid gunline (like Dark Reapers or War Walkers). You can use their infiltration and stealth to set up in cover and lay low while you force the ennemy to move close to your line. Then you intercept is fast assault unit with your Scorpions. They offer a decent punch comparable to assault marines (I would say slightly better) and a decent resistence for a correct price. Against things like Hormagaunts, ork boys and dark eldars they really shine but can put a severe hurt on Tactical Marines, They haven't change much in efficency since I started to use them in 3rd eddition.
