i got to find me some of that around here,
I used to use it when i was playing war machine, i used the grey, i found tho that it went on glossy and if i was to ink right on it the results were iffy at best , as if it had no tooth, could it have been a bad batch?

Have a black or grey army colored to your primer
But really you can brush paint a tank or big model by simply using a large brush and some nice well thinned paint.
cleaning apply making sure you are always working into wet paint rather then dried to keep streaking minimum. and do it in multiple thin layers after each layer dries fully. should take like 3-4 coats depending on the color

To clarify im saying make your army color black so all you have to do is prime and you are done. its lazy and was ment as a joke. The second line im saying use a fairly large brush like that first large brush size. and paint with very thinned paint. almost like airbrush paint (mix your paint with water in dish or pallet till the paint is about as thin as milk (skim)) then starting from one side paint it on the whole thing and let it fully dry then do it again till the coat is solid. it takes a lot of work and time so maybe its not what you are looking for.

I tend to use vallejo paints for my military models because the finish is very smooth and the paint dries in a tight coat. I typically thin the paint and put it on in many coats. No brush marks and it doesn't look thick at all.

oh lol, yea a black army would be the best route haha,
im trying dry brushing in layers, i just inked it (doing a test russ) so far so good, just gotta do the highlight back up to see how it is and weather it, i plan on them all being weathered so i think this might be an ok route for it

As Desubot suggested, big flat brushes are your friend. 3/4 and 1" brushes are nice sizes for tanks and terrain, and larger than 1" is good for buildings and large terrain.
I do like the GW large flat drybrush for drybrushing, but I find the bristles too stiff for painting. I would suggest brushes from a fine arts store or a craft store for this role.

I use a rattlecan with camo colors.
It doesn't go on thick if your technique is correct, in fact even an airbrush improperly used would have a deleterious effect.
What I do is shake it really, really well, then instead of spraying directly on the model I start my pass ahead or behind the model so that I don't get a big glob built up, then I make smooth even passes from 8-12 inches from the model.
I let the first coat dry, so that I can see where I've missed then instead of hitting those spots individually, I go for a second coat using the same "flyby" technique already mentioned. It gives good coverage and is quite durable.
Then I hit it with gloss coat, do my decals, seal those with gloss, do a wash, then a couple of coats of dull coat or clear flat.
That is for single color tanks. I do the same for camo'd ones but add the following step in before the first gloss coat.
If I want a camo pattern I will use silly-putty or blu-tac to mask off the pattern. Masking tape also works well if you want harder edges or a less organic pattern.
