So, I had this idea for a while, A Dark Angels army where everyone has robes. the terminators are easy as they come with robes (Suposed to be for the knights, But you can use them for all as knights have specific weapons anyway) But the problem was the regular guys and the bikes. Then I noticed the Dark Angels Chapter Upgrade Frame, It has everything to make 5 space marines with robes. Including bolters. And 2 of them costs less then what 1 Tactical Squad box costs. So you get 10 Marines in robes with bolters for less then 10 marines without robes! The only problem is, you dont get any special weapons liek meltas or plasma guns.. Though I supose I could buy the plasma gun pack and cut the gun off one of the 10 robed marines and give him a plasma gun instead.. So, The only problem then is the bikers since the Ravenwing Command Squad only seem to come with one robed guy..

So do the DV Company Master and Librarian, and it's easy to kitbash HQs from the DW and Vet sprues. You should have no issues here.

For special/heavy weapons, check out Anvil's offerings, they should have you covered at a decent price:

Well, I guess there is still the DA veteran box around with five models being all robed.

I have no idea for the bikes outside of making your own. I've tried it and it came out okay, try to just replicate the robed biker from the black knight box, but with some variation on the bit that's flowing back. Other than that I'd say it'll be near impossible to make all robed bikers.

I wouldnt do all robes for everyone. I would just use robes for vets or HQ models. A normal bolter guy dosent seem right in robes. Robes on vet/HQ bikers yes.

Only Veteran Dark Angels wear Robes. Normal marines don't.

I think all-robe DA (or DA successor) would look cool, but for those bikes, you really have no choice but greenstuff. Of course, it's going to be INSANELY futzy if you've never used it before. Or even in general - clothing is rather difficult, especially if any of it is free-standing.

The easiest thing to do is to just forget it for the bikes. The most expensive thing to do is to get someone else who's already good at GS sculpting to do it for you. The insanest option is to do hours of greenstuffing until you get to the point where you can create convincing robes yourself, and then attach them.

I would do it by unit and for characters, depends on what they come with or taste.
But for the "rank and file none characters, I would do entire units with or without to give them characdter and make it easier to tell them apart.
