It's been a month since I moved to London from Athens and I would like to find a place to hang out and meet enthusiastic people.
I am mainly interested in 40k since my only army is an Astra Militarum one (IG ftw). Bad thing for me is that all my models and 10 years worth of gear
are left back in Greece, however I am planning to retrieve them the soonest possible and get invovled with my beloved hobby.
The ideal place for me would have friendly and informative members, be it staff or gamers, since despite my 10 years or so in the hobby I don't have many games under my belt
(Last time I played was 5th edition). I don't mind it being a GW store, although I must confess that my very first experience with one started with thrill and ended up with bitterness
as the guys at Ofxord street's store all they cared about was mindless product selling. They kept pushing me to buy models although I have previously explained to them
that I had no tools to work with.
Every time I enter a store I want to take my time and enjoy my nerdgasm by admiring the dioramas, gaming boards, displayed armies even the bloody sealed boxes and browse a book or two.
Even when there is nothing I need I always spend a small amount of money just for good measure.
If you guys know of such a place anywhere in London I would be more than grateful to let me me know. Although I am currently residing at East Acton I wouldn't mind the distance as long as my
requirements are met.
Thanks in advance

Hey man, so I'm in leeds and don't know much of the London scene, I have been in to dark sphere, which is a store in Southwark, and they're really cool. Multiple game systems and as spacious as any gw store I've been in to.
Not much in the way of displays, though it's walking distance from Southwark underground or about a fiver in a taxi.
Hope that helps, and welcome to England

Dark Sphere is the place to be. The website is http://www.darksphere.co.uk/ and the facebook page for GW games is https://www.facebook.com/groups/307204116035548/. I can't help much on the 40k side as I mainly play Maifaux, but I can certainly vouch for the friendly staff and massive range of stuff on the shelves. I think wednesday is the regular 40k night, but if you post in the facebook group someone will no doubt give you more details. I travel from Ealing in under an hour, so it's not too bad from west London. If you're near the central line it'll be fairly straight forward, central to Oxford circus and then Bakerloo to Lambeth North.

Thanks for the letting me know chaps, I guess I have to pay them a visit sometime soon. It appears to be what I was looking for judging by their site and all.

ArbitorIan is more likely to be found at HATE Club at Bethnal Green Working Men's Club on a Wednesday.
But Dark Sphere is okay too. I just shop there though.

There are loads of clubs in London. It depends where you live, how far you want to go to reach one, and what variety of games you want to play.
http://www.selwg.org/
http://slwarlords.blogspot.co.uk/
http://www.madaxeman.com/main/club.php
http://www.shadow-warriors.co.uk/
(Shadow Warriors is mostly RPGs. I was a member for years until moving away.)
http://www.hestonandealingwargamers.org.uk/ (Used to be called West London Legion when I played there.)
In addition there is London On Board for boardgames, and various other clubs in the suburbs like Richmond.
