I am debating on getting O:I as an entry point into the game.

(My games club are a bit more interested in skirmish games as 40K has waned somewhat. Plus I have a 'non-wargaming' mate who I play starter set games with (we've had a lot of fun just doing this with DZC)

Originally I was mainly interested in the Nomads with an eye to learning the game before starting a Combined Army force.

However, having looked at the PANO guys on the CB website I am finding myself equally drawn! Faction ADD already!

Are the models that come with O:I a good 'starter set' for PanO? I have done some mooching on the CB forums and the opinion there is that for Nomads the answer is 'yes' but I couldn't find anything about the PanO.

Thank you.

O:I as Pan-O starter? im sure its good force to start.

You get :
Orc-heavy infantry(notign to shaby or complicated)
Father Knight- HI(good unit IMO)
Fusiliers- Light Infantry, backbone of Pan-O, can be equiped with lots of gear
Akalis- Medium Infantry- with AD combat jump can show up where you need it
Nisses-MI- Great sniper with options to do more than snipe.

Nice base for vanila(not sectorial) Pan-O

Every Nomad kid want to be a Tomcat when they grow up.

The forces in Icestorm are, in fact, the new Pan Oceania and Nomad vanilla starter sets, and will be released for sale individually at a later date, with the exception of the CSU (pre order boxes only) and the Father Knight and Reverend Healer (Icestorm only).

Gathering the Informations.

It's worth noting that the CSU, Father-Knight, and Reverend Healer are exclusive to Icestorm in sculpt only. We have no timeframe beyond that.

Well, it's actually going to depend on what Sectorial you're thinking about.
It's not great for the Shock Army, but it definitely can work for Neoterra--and potentially Svalarheima when we get it in "Acheron Falls".

Add the Fusiliers box or NCA starter+Bolts box and you get a decent amount of variety.

I would be looking to run a vanilla list at first until I have an understanding of the Sectorial flavours.

Must finish painting those damned Scourge first! I will be strong!

Thanks again for the replies.
