So Im picking up the nids and know that I want to stick with the battle-forged formations; thats 1 HQ and 2 troops manditory

Im gonna pick up a Hive Tyrant and 2 boxes of hormagaunts.

My question is this, should I make the tyrant a flying hive tyrant or footslog? Im new to the game so I dont know much of the difference, tactically speaking.

Would you suggest a different troop choice?

Keep in mind:
1.) I want to eventually build towards a monstrous creature list
2.) Im not a tourney player, I build fluffy lists with models I like the look of (which happens to be every tyranid except for gargoyles lol)

I really appreciate any help, merry christmas

I'd recommend doing a flying Hive Tyrant, and I imagine so Will most everyone else.

You might take a look at the Wrath of the Hive Mind box set. It is a good value relative to what you would pay for separately. Comes with 1 Hive Tyrant, 1 Tervigon (or Tyrranofex), 3 Warriors, and 20 Termagants.

Of course, if you're stuck on Hormogants, it doesn't have any of those, but it is a good value for a beginner, and has everything you'd need to have a legal Battle Forged army.

In any case, be careful not to buy a Finecast Hive Tyrant box...there are still some of those floating around, and they don't come with wings (the plastic kit does)

MerRy Christmas and good luck!

I wouldn't recommend buying what you want. Either get the Swarm box and or The Wrath of the Hive Mind. So much a better deal.

While I haven't played since 5th edition, the way it seems to go is to go Flyrant. So don't make him walking, or magnetize and do both.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Yeah, I suggest a box, if you get the swarm box, and a Tyrant, and a box of Warriors you well set for up to 1250 or so.

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER
