Is 3 in 1 Oil safe to use in your airbursh? Watching videos for the Airbrush tutor he suggested using it. From what Ive seen on other airbursh pages is that 3 in 1 could effect your paints.

Yes any oil can affect your paints. I wouldn't use 3 in 1. IMO

For lubes - Needle Juice (Badger), Super Lube (Iwata) or Glycerin (Drugstore).

Sort of my order of preference. If you end up going with the glycerin route, keep in mind that it comes in different viscosities. Thinner will wear off faster and need to be replenished (depending on how long you paint and how often you clean your brush it may not be a factor). At my local drugstore, they have three different brands on the shelf - the thickness isn't marked in any way, but you can see a difference by tipping the bottle.

It doesn't have a significant impact on the paint, and is the primary component of additives like drying retarder for acrylic paints anyway.

Is 3-in-1 (or mineral oil, or any other light, inorganic oil) a viable lubricant? Yes. Will affect paint? Yes, but that needn't be an issue. There are plenty of moving parts in an airbrush that don't ever contact paint. Lubricating the lower trigger assembly, tensioning springs, slides, etc. should be fine. Just don't try to also use it as a needle lube, like you would with the aforementioned products.

This. I use 3 in 1 all the time, just don't spray it through the cup or use it on the needle and you are fine. It can really bring back an old airbrush. I got a badger 150 off of craigslist and the trigger action was extremely sticky, I used some 3 in 1 down there and it is better than brand new.
