Hello,
I was hoping to get some tips on how to load out a unit of 5 sanguinary guard I just bought. I was going to go with 2 axes, 2 swords, a power fist, 1 inferno pistol and a banner.
Is it better to spread out the special weaponry/equipment?
I was thinking of putting the banner on a power axe marine and the inferno pistol on a sword marine.

Cheers

3 sword, 1 axe, 1 fist is what I'm going for with the new dex, if running 5.
Do not go for infernus pistols unless planning to DS without scatter. It's melta range is 3". If you are within 3", you are going to be charging and wrecking it anyway!
Im personally going to save the chapter banner for bigger squads.

I've been using 3 swords and 2 axes. A PF is a good choice too, since they aren't getting an extra attack from having two CCW anyways.

If im not running dante, its 3 swords, 2 fists, and a chapter banner running around with a sanguinary priest toting a jump pack and power sword. Gives me 17 ws5-6 str5 ap3 init5 while charging with another 8 str9 ap2 init1.

If im running Dante, i go to 8 dudes. 2 fists, 2 axes, 2 infernus pistols, chapter banner. Also with a priest, kitted out as above.

The unit is surprisingly durable, even without dante to eat wounds. Smart use of line of sight blocking terrain and cover (youre speedy. Use it) will keep you alive vs plasma and rending, and torrenting doesnt really work against sanguinary guard.

Torrenting works fine, although it is now less efficient now that sanguinary guard cost less than terminators.

3 swords 1 Axe 1 Power Fist with Angelus Bolt Guns per 5, if I run a unit of 10 then I toss in the chapter banner.

To make them slightly more durable I throw a priest in there if I can afford it points wise.

A priest with a pack is only 75 points. Power sword and bolt pistol (which is a weird 1 point upgrade) comes to 91 points and brings a ws6 sword to the unit. Its my favorite HQ in the book.

The level 2 libby with jump pack is amazing for the price.

That's why I love to take both
Though I'd like to take the Relic instead of a Power sword on the Priest, those 5 points make you a lot more dangerous in challenges.

I'm using one level 2 libby with my DC and Mephiston with the Sternguards atm.

Oh undoubtedly. The list ive been having the most fun with is running a lvl2 libby with jump pack and galliens staff alongside a priest with power sword, pack and pistol. The sanguinary discipline makes our psykers unbelievably fighty.

That's also a good option!
But if you take SG, I think you're almost required to take a Priest.
We always said how they needed more stats to show their Veteran-plus status.
A Priest giving FNP was almost mandatory, but now with S5, I5, WS5 and FNP in the new Codex..
