Hey Dakka!

Going back to the 30th/31st millennium here...

I'm interested in the beginnings of the Great Crusade and was wondering if there are any resources out there (i.e. official) that might shed some light on how long it might take the Mechanicum to build your common-or-garden battleship? Are we talking several years just to be build one? They are several kilometres long, after all!

I guess I'm interested in any Imperial/Mechanicum capital ships, so any info on any ships of the era would be gratefully received! If you can point me in the direction of specific excerpts from books (Black Library, FW etc) that would be awesome!

Have a search on wiki or lexi under imperial navy or mechanicum.
Off the top of my head it takes decades to construct capital ships.
The old battlefield gothic background may have info too.

It's not 30k, but in Death of Integrity it's stated that the Forge World of Triplex Phall can build two Space Marine Strike Cruisers within 30 years.

Logar had those giant battleships of his constructed in secrect in presumably less then a decade.
