Gibbering Horde of Chaos

Apothecary Gallius would have prided himself by the bold title of never losing a single battle brother under his care, because of this, he became attached to his brother dearly, causing more than one problem within his chapters command structure.[2]
This love is what brought the Plague father's attention to Gallius, as it was this compassion and familial bond that will bring his ruin, although not as planned. the first part of this was the release of a contagion to render even the resistant physiology of the astartes vulnerable to all other pathogens... all with the exception of Gallius himself. The Apothecary had to stand by and watch all of his charges die one by one on his chapter home world, and he could do nothing to stem the tide.. in a act of desperation, he started placing the recently deceased into stasis without extracting the gene-seed, this sparked conflict until two complete reserve companies to flee in attempt to rebuild with all the gene-vaults.
It was only when the last brother dies and placed in the sarcophagus did Gallius allow himself rest, completely worn from the pain, the anguish and despair... It was at this time that the local nurgle cult, that had hidden in secret, finally moved into the fortress monastery, past vacant emplacement and empty corridors, they came across the warrior, the fabled new apostle of the plague farther, the new champion chosen by the god of despair.. however they never found him, he found them, brought from his slumber by the sound of pestilence and hate in his heart. It took no time to kill the rabble that surrounded the aspiring champion, and in a flash, rotten bodies fell and only the one of the aspirant's in the apothecary's clutches.
Gallius said nothing but allowed his hate shine as a binding light to the mutant, the mutant spoke of greatness that awaits him, how power lurks close to him and how it shall be done, with a virus that could wipe demi-gods from the face of existence.. the aspiring champion never knew of his mistake, only the pain even his resilient form cannot make and the abyss. Gallius took up the hunt, with nothing but a gladius, he brought a night of tears to the nurglite cult until only the Arch-demagogue remained. at any other time, the demagogue and the Apothecary would have been a equal match, grotesque mutant to grieving astartes, but much like his master, he underestimated Gallius' love for the warriors that he had destroyed, and so the fight was over before it began, with blind berserker fury.
But this is not the fall, for a witch loyal to the architect of fate chooses this moment to come from the shadows, and sway his weakened mind.. she allowed his latent psykic potential to come to the surface and taught him the delicate art of necromancy. [1] But she wished to not mention of his contract to the architect of fate and when she had all but bound him, she told him of his fate to serve the god of change and leave his mortal folly behind... but the Apothecary knew that she could not bind him, as their was not oath spoken and Gallius is nothing if not a traditionalist... and turns on her coven with resurrected battle brother and terminators, but leaves her alive to utter these words.
"you had mistaken my love for weakness, my compassion for obedience, but that is not further from the truth, this gift is that and you assumed that i would go blindly... I can see why your god has abandoned you, witch"
With that he ordered his newly risen brothers to crucify her atop the battlements and to place ward around her to contain her gifts, under this, he inscribed a message for all those wishing to take his brothers from him and that they would meet the same fate.
since then and until contact with the Pariah wolves, his fortress monastery has been under siege by all manners of forces, chaos and imperial, but all sieges have broken to his necromancers magiks and his endless dead, but his compassion has remained...
[1] for the sake of sanity, this would have lasted over years, but the witch eventually got to him and he agreed reluctantly.
