Evening Dakka users!

I woke up this morning with an epiphany or sorts...

I've been a brush painter for some time, and thought that i'd finally move over to the world of Air Brushes!

Problem is though that I have no idea what i'm looking for when it comes to a good airbrush / compressor.

Price isn't to much of an issue it's mainly quality of the brush and what your thoughts were on decent one that will last me when cared for and will give me the desired effect.

i've been googling all different sorts and have no idea what i'm looking for.

I paint to a higher level when it comes to the brush and with time and practice will want to do the same with the air variety and how much the quality of the air brush adds to this.

Also i will be using a mix of vgc / vac / citadel paints.

Posting this question from Australia with the hope any uses of the air brush will help a scared and confused person trying to get his foot through the airbrush transition door!

thank you in advance!

I recommend grex airbrushes. I used badger, but I really enjoy grex more. They have great customer service, and excellent quality.

Thanks for the reply! What size should one be looking for when it comes to miniature painting? and how the paint is fed to the nozzel? or doesn't it matter to much.

I've just purchased a Badger Krome and I'm waiting for it to be delivered, Grex don't have many reviews on them at the moment as it seems to be a pretty new company.

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one

Hey mate,

I bought an Iwata HP-CS and SmartJet compressor from airbrushmegastore (or something) based out of Adelaide. Great blokes, best price I could find.

It has been a really good brush for me, but I'd probably go to underground wargames and get one of their cheap sets if I had my chance again. The guy that runs it is pretty active on forums, and loads of people swear by the brushes.

Given that I have had my shiny and expensive brush for ~8 months and have not once done anything that I couldn't have done with a cheap one, it would have been good for learning.
