Hi guys. Old time player from back in the late 80's who, thanks to an enthusiastic friend, has rediscovered the joys of Table top wargaming. I've started, and am painting up an Ork army, based on the idea that I'm looking for fun, slightly unpredictable gaming, and I love the new models.
I've played a few games at my local GW, and have joined a local wargaming club and been warmly welcomed. I've lost most of the games I've played, but I have tabled one opponent, much to everyone's surprise, but luckily I don't mind about winning or losing, I just enjoy playing.
But, the most pleasure I have had, is from collecting and painting up my models. I used to be quite good at it as a kid, but the new acrylics and models are a joy to paint with. Lovely details and a great range mean that I am loving it and really starting to learn new techniques, just taking it all in and getting inspiration from the galleries on here.

You're not wrong. The game is unrecognisable from the Rogue Trader days! But it plays so much more fluidly now, and makes more sense. Plus the models are just a world apart, looking back at some of the old citadel stuff, it isn't a patch on the new models they are producing today.
So far I'm finding it a much better all round experience than I remember from back then, bigger more coherent armies too!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Nice, welcome back to wargaming!
