Hello folks! I'm a new player in the burbank Ca area. I bought a starter kit this week with dark eldars and space marines. After obsessively painting them and building a play board I'm excited to try it all out! I was curious if anyone knows some local spot where I could learn how to play and chat with people in the community about the game. Any help would be appreciated! I've read through the rules and codex a few times but there is just so much information it's overwhelming! I attached a few pictures of my first setup, let me know if I am on the right track! Thanks!

Yes, Emerald Knights Comics and Games.

If you drive down Burbank Boulevard and end up in North Hollywood you've driven about two blocks too far. The 40K players usually meet once a month, roughly every 3rd Saturday of the month, and the Warhammer Fantasy players that Sunday. There's some mention of a 40K campaign though, and one of the owners was building Space Marines last weekend, which is not something I've seen him do before. So perhaps 40K activity will increase in the near future. (I'd like to be more specific, but I'm mainly playing board games these days so I am not paying attention to the mini gamers' talk.)
The board you made looks good, and I do like the stained glass. How did you make it?

T hanks for the info! I'll definitely check them out. I had just loomed at their website. Not much there but it looks nice. Thanks for the compliment. I airbrush motorcycles for a living, my brother owns an industrial supply store and father has a woodworking shop so model building is a perfect fit. For the glass I used plastic packaging (the ones that are impossible to open without a knife!) After scuffing the plastic with scotch brite to ensure adhesion I draw the design on paper and tape the clear plastic to it. Trace the design with thick enamel based paint. Use water based (acrylic and the like) that is extremely thin to fill in each glass piece. Naturally water based paint will not flow over or stick to enamel or oils so the thin paint pools on the plastic only and will not flow over the black line. Let it cure and spray it with hair spray to lock the thin paint down. Give it a try!

Woah, gorgeous first board, man!
Also, totally going to try out that stained glass technique you described. The result is super cool!
