Subject: Just picked up the USMC starter army for Bolt Action and have a basing question...

It looks like the bases included in the box are 25mm. I'm looking for recommendations on what size to use for the 4 team weapons (2 MMG teams, 1 mortar team and 1 37mm AT gun team) with 3 crew each. I'll probably be mounting the crews for the guns on the base with them and use casualty rings to indicate dead crew. There are also 6 prone figures that will hang off of the round bases. I'll be wanting to mount those figures on oval bases to avoid hanging off the edge of the base. What company(s) would you recommend for cheap and simple bases to meet my needs?

For my USMC the prone I used rounded calvary bases 50mm x 25mm for the bar's and snipers
for the weapons small weapons teams I made some bases that are about the same size as large flames of war bases..figured they'd fit in buildings better that way.
Heres a couple examples..I think they turned out alright that way.. For the AT gun i might just double the length of the FOW large base

Nice looking Marines. Where did you get the fake bamboo? As for the bases I found that Litko had exactly the bases I needed (25mm round, 60mm round and 25 x 50mm with rounded ends) in 3mm thick plywood.

Renedra plastics!
You can get them from Architects of War.
http://www.architectsofwar.com/figurebases.aspx
I use:
25mm round bases for infantry,
40mm round bases for small weapons teams (MMG, light mortars, etc)
60mm round bases for big weapons teams (medium artillery, etc)
and you can use the big oval for a massive thing like heavy artillery or a Flak/88 with a bajillion crew.
A pack of 25, 40, and 60 will probably give you all the bases you need and it'll be less than $15.
