Subject: Effective Ways of Fielding Chaos Sorcerers?

Hello all,
I'm very new to 40k and lately I've been having an overwhelming urge to field Chaos Sorcerers and I'm hoping to get some ideas on how to field them. What upgrades should they have, what units they should be paired with, and things like that. I have watched the video that Dave from Miniwargaming posted earlier this year and took his advice to heart. However, not to bash on the guy, he doesn't seem too skilled in his batreps so his word definitely isn't law (even though I still like the Chaos Sorcerer Biker build he mentions).
I'm very interested in possibly fielding two as my HQs, if that's even practical. One on a bike perhaps and the other on foot. The biker seems obvious and I would assume (though assuming can make an ass out of you and me) he would be paired up with other bikers or even chaos spawn. The sorcerer on foot though seems less obvious. I would assume (once again) that pairing them with cultists would be the viable thing to do, but I could be wrong.
In terms of wargear, I'm not too sure. In the video I mentioned, the sorcerer has a bike, MoN, 2 additional Master levels (3 total, of course), Sigil of Corruption, and a spell familiar. For all I know, that's an awful idea. In terms of wargear for any other sorcerer, I have no idea.
Things I should note:
1. I have a complete 1500 pts Nurgle list, as in I have all the models and am more inclined to take the suggestions that involve models I already own
2. Since buying the list I just mentioned, money is tight. I'm very reluctant to buy new and expensive models, even though those models might be the best ones to use with a sorcerer.
3. Summoning is sweet but I don't own any Daemon models, so it relates to what I just said in 2. However, if summoning is the most practical thing to do, then I'll simply wait until I have more funds available.
4. Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun comes before competitiveness. I'm going to play casual and not in a competitive field. So if you have a suggestion that you feel works well in casual but not so much in competitive then that's just fine.
Any advice as to how to field Chaos Sorcerers would be highly appreciated, especially from those who have tested fielding them.

A Sorcerer on a bike with a unit of Spawn for protection is pretty much the best way to run him.
You can consider adding MoN for T6 but then you have to roll once on the Chaos Nurgle chart and that would suck if you were trying to fish for a specific power from another discipline.
Otherwise I like Crimson Slaughter Sorcerer's as they have access to Divination. I quite like the idea of running one on foot in Terminator Armour attached to a unit of Havocs sitting behind an Aegis so he can take a few hits for the unit and prescience the Havocs.
I think if you are considering Sorcerers you need a plan in mind on what they are going to do for you otherwise points are better spent elsewhere.

How is Tzeentch these days? I used to run a Sorcerer on a Disc - lots of fun zipping around the field. :-)

If you go Tzeentch you want to ally Daemons as a Tz Herald is just so much better and durable as can be attached to Screamers and has access to a better range of psychic disciplines.
Tz Chaos Sorcerer doesn't bring too much to the table and he's vulnerable out there on his own, he can jink and would be T5 due to the disk but if he jinks all of his psychic shooting is then worthless.

Funny how that works. One would think that a Tzeentch Sorcerer would be the most effective.

Thanks for the info, little sad that Tzeentch is still the weakest/most useless sorcerers. :-\

Chaos sorcerers get access to ML 3 and Spell Familiars to re roll failed tests. Always take! Bikes are good to add extra toughness (and mobility). And access to invulnerable saves outside of Terminator Armor make you better than a Loyalist Librarian.

Taking 4 Sorcerers in 2 CADs can actually be interesting at 1500 points. Lots of opportunities for summoning makes them potentially the most powerful units in the game.

You can also go for daemon summoning with a CS artifact that makes you daemon - prophet of the voices.
And always take spell familliar. It's a thing that makes a regular sorc much better than Ahriman.
Sorcs are quite versatile but you get the most out of them when they're riding bikes or jumping around with jumppacks thanks to increased mobility and being present on the field from turn 1. Regular and termie sorcs are usable too but you'll notice their effectiveness going down a bit. But it mostly depends on what else you bring. Anywayz, a sorc is a great choice most of the time.

Devious Space Marine dedicated to Tzeentch

A Tzeentch sorcerer on a disc can jump out of LoS, throw some shooting Psychic Powers and then jump back out of LoS during the Shooting Phase.
A Herald of Tzeentch can do the same, cheaper and with better Witch Fire powers.
