Hello everyone,

Abyss is a new venture showcasing the work of the very talented Jason Monkman. We will be releasing all sorts of miniatures in several different scales. Also, busts, plaques, objects and all sorts of kits. Basically if we think it's cool and fun to make, we'll do it! These will be all be cast in high quality resin.

I would like to invite you to take a look at our new Facebook page;

https://www.facebook.com/ABYSSArtofJasonMonkman?fref=photo

Or, if you don’t have Facebook, at our blog;

Here are some work in progress pictures, hope you like what you see and please support us by sharing the word!

Cheers,
Tim & Jason / ABYSS

Hey Tim, nice to see you back! Some nice looking stuff here, that's for sure. It sounds like it's mostly busts and 54mm though, any chance of any smaller stuff?

Some great looking stuff here - will be following with interest!

Personally, I like the "larger" scale (54mm, busts, etc). Looking good.

EDIT - Oh, but can I suggest you edit the title of your post, so it's more descriptive as to the fact you're a new supplier?

Hi mate! Yes there will be smaller stuff too. Jason is quite new at miniatures and is still exploring but he is doing some cracking 15/20mm as well as some 28mm minis as well. We are staring out with the bigger stuff first but we are already planning one or two 28mm ranges/games as well. Gotta start somewhere I guess!

Well we're not a new supplier just yet but you might be right. I just couldn't come up with something else!

Here's another bust;

The sculpting looks good, although I think the target audience for busts is sometimes different than full miniatures.

Could you clarify - from prior posts, you're Tim, running this new venture, and Jason is the sculptor, right?

I'm also looking forward to seeing you have him try his hand at a smaller scale, particularly full miniatures . A monster for 28mm is a similar size to humanoids at 54mm, after all!

Thanks RiTides!

We are actually both running this venure as equal partners. Jason does the sculpting and I will basically handle everything else.

I'll have some 'regular' sized minis to show you soon!

Indeed, that's what I'm thinking too; if he's unused to 28mm perhaps a largish monster would be a good place to start, maybe some demonic/aberrant/Cthulhoid beast? Sculpting is looking top notch, it'll be interesting to see what comes out of this (out of the Abyss, so to speak ).

While not for Abyss I would like to show the work he's been doing for some others. These show some other scales which you guys mention. Needless to say we have plans for these scales as well!

Wip 15mm;

And a wip 28mm for Black Wasp;

Whoa. Both of those look fantastic! The level of detail on the 15mm trooper is extremely impressive.

Yeah Jason's a bit insane! He uses magnifiers (only for an hour or so because it causes headaches.. O_O) and a needle only for that scale!

Thanks Tre, coming from a high profile sculptor like you that is awesome!
