Starting Warmahordes and doing Legion. I am trying to build a 35 point list to start, ideally one that would work with both Saeryn, and in the near future pThagrosh without a ton of reworking. My main opponents will be Retribution, and Menoth. Here is what I have come up with so far with Saeryn. Was debating between Warspears and Striders+UA, assistance is appreciated. Ultimately, as much as I love the Ogrun models, I may save them for higher point conflicts, and go with the Strider list as it seems a bit more capable.

*Edited to include the intended full squad of Warspears*

Casters: 1/1
Points: 35/35
Saeryn, Omen of Everblight (*5pts)
* Nephilim Bolt Thrower (6pts)
* Raek (4pts)
* Angelius (9pts)
* Scythean (9pts)
Blighted Ogrun Warspears (Leader and 4 Grunts) (8pts)
* Warspear Chieftan (2pts)
Blighted Nyss Shepherd (1pts)
1 Spell Martyr (1pt)

OR

Saeryn, Omen of Everblight (*5pts)
*Nephilim Bolt Thrower (6pts)
*Raek (4pts)
*Angelius (9pts)
*Scythean (9pts)
*Blighted Nyss Striders (6pts)
*Blighted Nyss Strider Officer and Musician (3pts)
*Blighted Nyss Shephard (1pts)
2 Spell Martyrs (2pts)

If you are facing Menoth and want to shoot at their jacks, you might consider a Naga, but otherwise both lists look serviceable. Do not cut down on Spell Martyrs with Saeryn. She needs at least 2. Breathstealer is a game changer.

You can play similar lists with pThags, but they are very different casters and you might not like the same setup. He tends to enjoy having a Carnivean in his list for Armor skewing. Honestly though, play what you like and you'll see what works for you and what doesn't.

Both of those lists NEED a shredder. Tenacity is important.

Thanks for the advice! I plan to magnetize the Scythean so I will give a Carnivean a shot.

Also came up with this. It's a different feel, less finesse I think. I added the Shredder only begrudgingly. Functionally it's awesome, but otherwise, dislike. What do you think of this one, and how does it compare to the other two?

Casters: 1/1
Points: 35/35
Saeryn, Omen of Everblight (*5pts)
* Naga Nightlurker (5pts)
* Shredder (2pts)
* Angelius (9pts)
* Ravagore (10pts)
* Scythean (9pts)
Blighted Nyss Shepherd (1pts)
2 Spell Martyrs (2pts)
The Forsaken (2pts)

I like that list better. It looks good and has some tools to handle things like Menoth, Gorman, and some ranged pressure with the Ravagore and Naga.

The Shredder is an amazing piece for Legion. He's as close to an auto include as you get in this game. That's not to say he's a MUST have all the time, but he enables a lot more aggressive play which is a good thing for our faction.

Here is another list for 35pts that I enjoy mostly because its difficult for some lists to deal with.

Saeryn +5
Angel 9
Angel 9
Scythean 9
Scythean 9
Forsaken 2
Forsaken 2

It doesn't have a shredder which is sad, but it does have a lot of in your face melee action and four heavies with plenty of fury management. I could see you dropping one of the heavies for a light and a shredder, but I feel it loses its skew nature and is easier to deal with although 3 heavies is still a lot for 35 pts.

Either way, have fun, try out your lists before you start tweaking anymore and see what you like and what you don't about each.

Happy hunting!

That is an interesting list. Heavily skewed lists are a bit out of my comfort zone but seem to work well in this game. I was wanting to try dual Angelius but was unsure at this point level. Seems kinda hard to go wrong with Legion in general. I also like things as smashy as possible sometimes. I will try this one.

Any tips for trimming these lists to 25pts?

@25 I'd sport pThags around. He's a monster with his feat.

Generally I run this at 25, but fury can be an issue lol.

pThags +5
Carnivean 11
Scythean 9
Ravagore 10

Its 3 big baddies all at ARM 22 because of his free animus and Spiny Growth. Move up the table, destroy, and then pop feat to bring back one they finally can chew through

This obviously has a few match up issues, but not nearly as many at that point level as you'd think.

Honestly, that point level is a little wonky for match ups and you should probably just play what you want and what you're comfortable with.

Cool! That is about what I figured, for 25pt lists in general. Stock was pretty limited, at the store, so I picked up a few options. Angelius, Striders + UA, Spell Martyrs, and a Nephilim Bolt Thrower. Gonna put in my order for Saeryn, and the other 'beasts. Until pThags releases at least, I'll probably run the Strider and Naga lists.

Pretty excited. Can't wait for pThag's new sculpt!

Yeah his new sculpt is pretty sweet, but I liked his old one too. I'm happy to own different poses of the same models to be honest.

Other warlocks I'd recommend growing into later would be both Vayls. They are not only amazing casters but also a ton of fun.

I do like Thag's original too. It was a tough decision. I would be interested to try Vayl, pLylyth, and Abbs. They all seem interesting honestly.

Both Abby's are a good time, but eAbby is one of the casters that turns our beasts into murder machines during feat turn. She's greatness.
