I have a tournament coming up at the end of the month and the special rules for it are, only 1 CAD is allowed, no allied, no formations, just 1 CAD. Also a named character must be brought, whether they are an upgrade or not does not matter, just a named character. The lists I know I will be dealing with a lot of is flying nids, some chaos space marines with from 2-3 helldrakes and maybe a space marine or 2.

I am very new to this army, have a slight grip on how they work, but still learning some finer details, so any and all advice would be greatly welcome.

HQ
Kairos

Heralds x4
Herald of Khorne
Juggernaut, Exalted Reward

Tzeentch Herald x3
1 w/ disc and lesser reward
2 w/ exalted rewards

Troops
2x 20 Pink Horrors

Fast Attack
20 Hounds of Khorne

9 Screamers

Heavy
Soul Grinder
Phlegm Bombardement, mark of nurgle

Fort.
Aegis w/ quad

The goal here is to have 1 unit of horrors with a herald to sit behind the aegis and act as anti-air with the soul grinder. The khorne hounds and the screams will go forward and act as pressure and kairos will kinda just be flying and summoning, or filling in where ever he is needed. I am more than willing to change this to make better, most likely will drop screamers and replace with something else, maybe daemon prince. I mostly designed list to try and withstand nids, and their annoyance.

Should I drop the screams and maybe bring in a daemon prince of tzeentch in HS spot

Either that, or drop some of the pink horrors and and screamers to make your DP. 11 PH garner 2 warp charges. I'm assuming you'll be spawning more daemons with your TZ heralds, as they don't make very good offensive platforms

What would be recommended on the DP, also I was going 20 for the chance at 3 warp charges per troops choice

you only need 16 for the 3 charge,. Yes that'll quickly go down but you can use stuff like summoning and the portalglyph to push it back up.

I am really naive with this army, so what should I put on heralds and on a DP if I bring one. On 1 tzeentch, I was thinking portal glyph, on another I was thinking grimoire and on last maybe just roll random exalted. On DP wings/lvl 3 armor and all 3 rewards.

Would that be good, I just really want to be able to take on Nids cheese lists.

Good thing you chose Chaos Daemons, because CSM named Hq are nearly all garbage with exception to Typhus.

Yeah after getting nearly tabled with CSM decided to go the daemon way, also summoning is just good fun and daemons do it better, other than lack of spell familiar.

Something that has not been said yet: A daemon army normally only needs 1-2 exalted rewards.
These are for the grimoire and possibly the portalglyph.

Anymore is overkill and unnecessary, The reason being that greater rewards are much better than exalted.

For your herald of khorne I would drop the exalted and certainly give him a lesser reward for an axe of khorne (this will help you stop big stuff like wraithknights from tarpitting your dogs). You could spend another 20 to give him a greater ether blade for more strength vs normal targets who don't need the axe and an extra attack, but this is more of a personal preference.

I wouldn't drop the screamers. The simple reason is super heavy walkers.
Daemons are very limited in their counters to these, and screamers are one of the few available. Grimoire or invis them, and they might do some damage to an Imperial Knight.

Overall the list looks ok. Do all the Tzeentch heralds have mastery level 3? If not then they should. They could all do with disks as well. That way a screamer star with a 2++ re-rollable is more easily achieved, but also they are better at moving/hiding/grabbing objectives. T4 is also nice too.

I would keep the soul grinder, as I like them, but it might be better to run it as a slaanesh one instead, to support the dogs and screamers. If FW is allowed and you want to keep the nurgle one, then you could consider a Plague hulk instead of it to save some points.

FW is not allowed at the current tournie is only single CAD, so no allied knights and currently I know of no one that would show up that has an entire force of IK. All my heralds are lvl 3 and I just used exalted because not that well versed with codex so just assumed was the best.

Regarding the soul grinder, I chose nurgle to give +2 to cover, my biggest fear would be a flying circus of Nids. Super heavies are most likely not going to be an issue.

Ok you are good on the superheavy front. However, AV13 walkers are an issue too. Other soulgrinders or ironclad dreads are difficult to get rid of, for me that justifies keeping the screamers over a DP.

Flying enemies are a problem for daemons. Most of the time it is best to ignore them. Probably can't do that with flyrants, but the opponent will only have 2 of those.

Fateweaver can deal with them, just make sure his 2++ save is up and he will get through them eventually.
