Hi folks,

I have a unit of 30 Night Goblin Spearmen. They're old plastic GW brand ones which I bought and painted sometime just between 2000 and 2002. I want to bulk them out to owning 40 so I can either have 2 x 20 units or 1 large unit of 40. I found a deal on ebay that had several of the "Battle for Skullpass" night Goblins (I think that's the set they were from). I know they were mono-pose, but I just wanted to bulk out an existing unit or mix in so the fact they were pretty much all the same pose didn't worry me.

However, as you can see from the photo, these things are rather tiny in comparison to the old models. In fact the photo doesn't do the size justice, they look even smaller irl.

ON GW's site, the plastic Night Goblins they now sell (http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Night-Goblin-Regiment) seem to be newer set of spures to the ones I have painted - at least they seem to be as they have netters in with them and when I had my plastic box set, the netters were metal only.

My question...

How do the newest GW plastic Night Goblin sprues match in size to the original ones I've shown. Are they more like the Battle for Skullpass ones, or are they larger like the older plastic models?

I don't want to waste more money buying some if they're the tiny size and won't match my existing models.

Thanks for any answers.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

I kind of like the different sizes as Goblins aren't all the same size.

You could also just put your old guys in the front ranks and the smaller ones in the rear ranks, the forced perspective will probably make them look pretty normal on the table top.

I haven't seen the new ones and skull pass side by side, but I though they were pretty interchangeable, so they're probably small too.

The Skull Pass ones and the newer ones from GW are the same style and were out at around the same time so they're probably the same size, so smaller than the older ones.

It'll be less noticeable if you do some modification to their bases so that their feet aren't all obviously at the same height. Add a little cork under a few of the short ones or something. Of course the main difference is the heads, and there's very little you can do about that. I wouldn't personally worry about it, but if it bothers you, you could try making a *very* mixed unit by throwing in some converted gnoblars, or some alternate company goblins. If there's a great deal of variety it will be less noticeable.

I've got some old OLD plastic dwarfs (the original plastic kit) and they're just as different proportionally as those gobbos you have. I just mix them into a big unit and its not too weird looking. Paint them all up nice and base them and they'll be fine.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll maybe paint them up and see how they mix in with the old ones. I'm thinking I may need to raise them on their bases, but failing that, I do have 20 of them, so I can put them all together for a unit all to themselves anyway. I don't usually mind a mixture of sizes of creatures, but these just seemed like they were made at an entirely different scale. :-(
