Hey everyone!

So I am currently in the process of painting this stauette kinda thing for the missus uncle - it holds a whisky bottle but dont need to go into specifics. Anyway I have all the painting sorted except one bit.

Its got a large cube kinda thing as a base and is completely flat - I was wanting to make it look kind of like stone. Anyone know of any good guides or can give me some pointers on how to make this flat surface look stone like?.. If my description is too fail to understand I can upload some photos later...

What about a marble effect? I had a ton of links for that when I was looking at doing horus (you should also search here for people who have done that)

Painting it a stone grey base. Then spatter some brown, white, and light grey by using an old brush, putting your thumb on the bristles, pulling back and letting fly. Then highlight the edges with a light grey. That gives an old stone look. For newer stone, skip the spatter. If you can, look at some stone piles, either natural or part of landscaping. Base +highlight gets you pretty much there.
