Well, One more unit and I will be done with my Sisters of Battle Army (At least for a long while). I can't think of anything else to add to them. I have some Dark Angels, but they just don't do anything for me, I may finish them up and sell them. So I am thinking of another army to work on (I love to paint) and I have found the Tech Thralls of Forgeworld look cool. It would make since for my Sisters Order to have allies with the local Tech Priest, so I Think it would work well. See the order's write-up: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EIGgnCc_s1lWEXp9FcD3lvchbCmb9sn31nSbKDqMZxA/edit?usp=sharing.

I have just played an Imperial Guard player tonight, and the orders are cool. I am wondering about using Tech Thralls as Guardsmen or Scions.

Those with experience with the Guard rules I ask: What would be the units I should consider to do an army with a Tech-priest theme and will be competitive. Also a different play-style that my Sisters of Battle army would be great.

What HQ would be at giving orders and would make a good Tech priest? (pictures from forgeworld)
(I may use these as commanders or whatnot, also I will probably do a lot of conversions)

I know it's not cheep, but I don't plan on doing a huge army and if I was wise about army cost I would not have an Sisters of Battle army would I?

Have you looked at Imperial Armor 13: Warmachines of the Lost of the Damned for Renegades and Heretics army codex?

I want to avoid forge world rules because they often are not allowed. Besides, from what I hear 30K is intended for huge conflicts. Where do I find the rules for playing Mechanicum? Are they good rules? I'll look into that.

But it would be nice to be able to use 40K rules with the models if need be.

The mechanicum rules are more up to date in the third horus heresy book. They have a reputation for being very good (in heresy games at least). I think they work ok on a small scale.
I couldn't advise dropping that much money on counts-as without investigating the official list.

The locals are OK with forgeworld models,(I could use a Repressor in my SOB army if I wanted) but I'll see if a hole forge world army would fly. Heck, I'll post it on our Face book page now. . .

Thanks guys.

Later. . .

Well, I have found the rules, I need to find some of the basic 30k equipment stats, but they look cool. I like the make-your-own-leader and the upgrades to troops and stuff. So Fay the locals feel forge world is ok, not everyone thinks ok for tournaments, but for casual play yes.
