Subject: Rhinos as assault vehicles....

Popped into my local GW today to pick up a land raider for my world eaters list... Between us we came up with a potential tactic, so I want to see what dakka thinks of it.... So I don't think that bezerkers are all that bad... but their issue is delivery. The only way to almost ensure they make combat is a very expensive land raider, or expensive forge world options. So there needs to be another way. We may have come up with a solution.
Load up Rhinos with bezerkers. Bare bones nothing more, the only possible upgrade needs to be forge casters. Rhino rush them forward and sit them in front of the enemy. They have nothing else to shoot at. Here's the almost genius part... You want them to wreck the rhino, because if they do, you disembark in THEIR turn, which means surely that you can charge in your turn?
What do people think?

You sought to cower behind your walls, weakling? Instead, by the will of Khorne, you shall die behind them |

If you Are wrecked/exploded, the unit counts as having disembarked. So you cannot charge on your next turn.
If you are going to use rhinos to assault, hide behind the rhinos the turn you disembark, and then move around and charge on your next turn.
Berserkers are bad because they are over costed, not because of a lack of delivery.

Yeah that tactic doesn't work. But yeah lots of min squads and target saturation will.
..one day we will give up trying to make bezekers work.

But you're not disembarking in your turn, it is in the enemies turn?

I believe the shooting unit can still assault YOU, but any disembarking prevents assaulting unless you specifically have Assault Vehicle, or Opened Topped (and not coming in from reserves).

It still counts as having disembarked on your next turn. If you got shot out of a raider, you can charge. But not out of a rhino.

Play with the SW supplement instead. Juggernauts as TFC and what not.

So you just opted to discuss this without reading the relevant rule?
It spells out that what you want to do isn't allowed.

Even if it was allowed why on earth would the opponent even try and wreck your rhino? They would just not bother shooting it, then next turn you would have to disembark and not charge, or stay in your rhino and the opponent doesn't shoot at you again.

The logical thing to do would be to drive a pair up and make them into a wedge, get the guys out and hide them behind them rhinos forcing your opponent to destroy them to get LOS.
Next turn split them and send your guys through the middle.
Might not work perfectly but kind of like a Khorne themed Fish of Fury.

Lol I thought I was the only one that did this. I had no TWC but I did have 3 boxes of unbuilt Juggernauts of Khorne so I magnetized the seat and can now pop on a space marine or daemon upper torso (with space marine legs - he's possessed I swear it! and like ripped out of the marine from the inside!)
