Have what I believe will be my friendly TAC list but before making the big purchases just wanted some feedback in case I've made a glaring error.

Flyrant with ESG
Flyrant with lash whip and bone sword, talons, ESG, toxin and regen (pricey I know but always loved a choppy tyrant)

Venom

9 stealers+brood lord. Both have talons and toxin stealers also have adrenal glands

So there we are, not ultra competitive I know but still packs 7 MC and stealers who are my fave unit. Warriors and biovores sit back and lob out plates ideally in cover with the venom

That's a lot of points for what you are getting....If you like a CC Tyrant, take a look at taking a SkyTyrant Formation, then putting two Dakka'rants in your main detachment. Stealers are a little over priced for what they do, so adding in biomods is not the best choice you can make. Broodlords are not a popular choice, but I think they can be usable.

With twin Mawlocs, I don't feel the need for Biovores, so I would use a Big Bug for my third Heavy. I am very partial to Tyrannofex A Dakkafexen Brood (one, or two models) is also a good choice. I would lose the Regen, and maybe spend some of the savings on Prefered Enemy for the CC Tyrant.

Savings from making the Stealers less expensive can buy other units. If you don't like SkyTyrant, Living Artillery is a very good Formation as well. I have not tried it but Spawn of Cryptus looks like it could make Stealers more effective, and you have the main piece of it... (Broodlord, Scything, plus 8? Stealers with Scything) The formation specifies all the kit, so check it before you build the Carnifex, or Warriors.

1). If you want to use an assault Tyrant absolutely use the skytyrant formation. Without it a 4 wound model with a 3+ will disappear to any sort of concentrated fire.

2). I would also reconsider the stealers, or maybe just one unit. I know they are fluffy and very cool models but you will be extremely disappointed in them.

If I drop all the GS biomorphs and a stealer from each squad I and the biovores I can get 2 basic fexes or a Tyrannofex with rupture cannon (and either take regeneration or add 2 stealers)

Also what formation are we on about for the tyrants?

I don't recommend a Rupture cannon, I use Acid Spray, and a Thorax hive of Electro grubs, that is two Templates, one has Torrent, the other has Haywire.

The SkyTyrant Formation is basicly one Tyrant: Must take Wings, and two Broods of Gargoyles. The special rules are a extra good "Look out M'am!" and you cannot "Fly" (you don't want to if you are CC ) The Gargoyles make a meatshield/ Tarpit, and the Tyrant does what Tyrants do.

Checked out the formation and despite my fear/hatred of painting smaller bugs there's no way I can afford to not take that formation it's nuts so will amend accordingly and will post update shortly

If you really hate to paint gribblies try primering in white, them dry brushing, and a ink wash...it is very pain free, and looks pretty good.

Looks pretty nice. But I think Fighter Ace belongs on your Warlord. I don't know why you have Rending Claws And Bone sabre...? maybe you can find 5 more points and get Maw Claws? then you can pick up Prefered Enemy with your first kill.

Sporepodding is a good way to go, but I think that is a "style" thing. I personally have huge good fortune with Mawloc, so I tend to include them whenever I can.

If you want a "full kit" on your CC Tyrant, why not grab Prefered Enemy, and plump for a Reaper of Obliterax? I would also put Electro grubs on the SkyTyrant, it is just too dang handy not to take.

If you have Shield of Baal, you could build the Stealer Brood as the Spawn of Cryptus, that way you get PE, and Stealth on the Brood. I don't think it is too expensive, but you need to build the Stealers with Scything Talons (but Not the Brood lord. ) as for what works "best" that depends on both your "style", and your local "meta". So you'll need to play a few and see.

Forgot to add it but ESG is included in the combat tyrants price,like you say just too useful!
