I think Monstrous Creatures and Flying Monstrous Creatures should have a table not unlike vehicles that affect them in different ways. Stuff like Weapon Destroyed (blasting an arm off), Immobilized (damaging the legs or other form of locomotion), and Catastrophic Damage (damage to the brain or vital organs that outright kills the MC or FMC).

The problem is, why not apply this idea to all models? If my DA company master loses a wound who's to say he didn't get his leg blown off?

As much as I'd like to see a damage table added to monstrous creatures I can't see it happening. How would you know when to apply said table? A vehicle only uses it if it takes a pen, what counts as a pen on a monster? Plasma is strong enough to wound a riptide, does that mean it should roll on the table? Do you need to beat their armor save, meaning a missile won't do it against a riptide?

I suppose a system can be made, I just don't see it.

Personally i think concussive and things like ordnance should have concussive on hits instead of too wounds.

then suddenly the humble lemon would see play again. (edit wait concussive only drops initative or was it ws too?)

I think that it should be applied to MC. It shouldn't be as drammatic as a table for vehicles, however. As MC are allready vulnerable to ID weapons and can be wounded by small arms fire.

What about this:

1-5 nothing happens
6 - must snapfire and counts it's ws as 1
7 - looses 1 additional wound
8 - looses d3 additional wounds but gets Rampage for a turn.

ap2 weapons +1 to the result, ap1 weapons +2 to the result.

That might interact wierd with S: D weapons, however.

How would that even work on the numerous monstrous creatures who don't have a weapon listed on their wargear?

I think your trying to fix all the monstrous creatures that should be Walkers (Riptides, Dreadknights, etc.), but going about it in the wrong way.

Monstrous Creatures are Infantry who are just bigger. You wouldn't make an Infantry Damage table, even though there are expensive multi-wound infantry.
