I play IG/AM.
I have some Valks / Vendys and a scratchbuilt Vulture.
On one of my Valks, which I have a skeletal dragon painted on it, I made some small green stuff spikes that go along the top spine of the paint scheme.
Someone told me that because I put those spikes on, that the Valk is now Chaos or Traitor guard and that I cannot run it with my guard.

Is that true?
If so, I suppose I can pull the spikes off and do some extra creative painting.

My Vulture I have painted like Toothless from "How to train your Dragon 2" with one of the tails painted like in the movie.
I am wanting to add some "lightning blue" colored "fins" down its spine on top like Toothless had in the movie.

Am I going to be told that those make the Vulture Chaos or Traitor also?

Wouldnt those fins be considered part of the "unique paine scheme" rule for a Vulture?

Thanks Dakka

If you are not using Traitor rules it's not traitor. Who ever told you that is an I D I O T ! Idiot! You can do what ever to your minis to make them look cool to you. Nobody can tell you that it's Chaos or not. You use them for what ever you want them.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

The guard are a massively diverse organisation coming from a huge variety of cultures, worlds and backgrounds. Just because GW like spikes on their chaos stuff doesnt mean nobody in the imperium puts spikes on stuff.

Similarly just because something in a chaos army doesnt have spikes doesnt mean its loyalist.

It is whatever loyalty you want it to be.

Cool. I was hoping for that answer.
When I was originally told by that guy that my valk paint scheme was traitor, I said "what ever". He didnt have a good match against me. He kept insisting that it was traitor through the entire game. Oh Well for him.

As for my "Toothless" vulture, the flaps are being made as we speak.

"Toothless"?
As in the dragon from How To Train Your Dragon?
You should post some pictures.

Also, if the guy keeps insisting it's "Traitor/Chaos Guard" ask him to show you where it says that within the rules.

I mean, my Honour Guard are the Sanguinary Guard models. Does it make them Blood Angels? Nope!

If I sound like I'm being a condescending butthole, I'm not. Read my reply as neutrally as possible, please and thank you.

If this guy keeps insisting they are Traitor, you have to wonder what does he have? If he is saying "Traitor" then that means playing "fluffy". So does he play his army fluffy?

Heh, it reminds me of that guy who once said I HAD to take Red Paint Job on all my vehicles since they were all painted red. Anyways, he was probably just teasing you, even if he inadvertedly crossed the fine line that sets apart a friendly tease from an annoying whine.

yeah occasionally when people play a imerpium army vs imperium army they'll say the other guy is a traitor. I once played a guy a 40k game, we both where ultramarines, we just shrugged and claimed the other guy was alpha legion

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Only by silly people.

You need bones and spikes to be chaos, but not all bones and spikes are chaos. Just look at LatD marines, or blood angels or space wolves for that matter.

I often play DA vs DA, so my pal always takes the role of the Fallen when we fight.

on the forum. Obviously

Do they have chaos powers? No? Then they aren't traitor guard rules wise, and the guy who tried to stop you from taking flyers is an idiot.

Thanks again Dakka.

As soon as I get "Toothless" fixed up properly, I will post some pics of my fliers.
They are.....
Vend-"Flying Death" (skeletal dragon paint job)
Vend-"Turok" (Turok paint job from "Avatar")
Vulture-"Toothless" (Toothless from H.T.T.Y.D.2)
