Does anyone know where there is a tutorial on how GW painted the designs on the warriors of chaos armor in the codex?

Put some photos up or links and im sure we'll be able to tell you how to do it

That looks freehand to me. Just squiggles and iggles. Make it up as you go and it'll be fine. I find that having sketched out a couple of ideas and having a rough 'painting map' in my head helps me to be able to replicate that sort of thing pretty well

well i was looking for a tutorial. i can believe that the second one is freehand scrolling. i dont see anyone being able to do the first one freehand

do you have an example of something that you did that looks as good?

The first one is easy. Id basecoat brown, carefully freehand the interlocking diamonds with a bone colour leaving brown line borders visible then carefully highlight them up to white. Whack a brown wash over it once dry and that should do it. The second looks like very careful freehand

Those arent diamonds, theyre skulls. if they were diamonds it wouldnt be tough

So they are. Im on my phone so the picture isnt great. Still though, just uber carefulness, mega fine brushed and a butt load of patience and you'll achieve your goals.

Definitely freehand. Can't do that myself but I've seen it done

Not a video tutorial, but try and get hold of Bohun on Facebook. He's famous for doing such things, and his gallery has a lot of nice pictures to look at.

Bohun's a friendly chap, I'm sure he wouldn't mind giving you pointers.
