So I just found out that space wolf terminators can get a storm shield and combi weapon at 6 points less than a base deathwing terminator. AND with their detatchment option, they get to take them pretty much as easily as deathwing, with no need for a special character and access to fast attack drop pods.

a deathwing terminator is 11 points more than a space wolves one. I had no idea the points difference was that huge.

Does this mean space wolves can deathwing better than deathwing

Deathwing assault and split fire-two things SW lack in termies.

Not saying that that definitely makes up the 11pts, but there is a reason for some price difference, and this would contribute to an effective deathwing.

No, They do have a lot of Options, but they must pay for anything better than a Storm Bolter/Power Weapon.
A Storm Shield/Combi-Weapon sound good, until you get into Melee, then they become as effective as an Assault Marine.

Sorry, may have overreacted a bit. I just found out the points cost without taking into account what they come with base. So they don't have power fists base, or the ability to take combi weapons AND power weapons?

Power Fist and Combi-Weapon runs them 48.

Kind of makes me wonder if it's be worth it to ally space wolves with dark angels to spread some drop pod love and to bring in some terminators with access to (combi) meltas (god, I wish terminators could just take meltas. It would make me so much happier with them)

as it is, the only good anti armor deathwing have access to (other than punching it) is drop podded dreadnoughts, suicide vets/command squads, and predators (kind of meh to me. They will pretty much always shoot front armor which in my meta is likely 13-14).
