Hi all

New player here (yet to actually play a game). The reason I've gone for WHFB over 40K is because the lore side attracts me more. However with end times hitting and massive changes rumoured I'm not really sure where to begin my reading. Can anyone suggest a good starting point for reading about the backgrounds of the armies, the WHFB universe and any good books etc.

Do not bother with the End Times yet, read up on how the world is before the End Times first.
The fluff in rulebooks and armybooks is always a good place to start, and there are massive amounts of fluff in the Warhammer Fantasy roleplay books

It seems GW is set to erase all that fluff you like and start over with a new version that will change everything.
Enjoy.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.
