hey everyone, long time reader, first time poster here. I currently have about 4,000 points of neurons and was looking to start Tyranids as well. I have a few models so far and am extremely limited on disposable income (great hobby for that, right?). That being said I built up a 1250 list to get started and would like your critique.

HQ -
Hive tyrant - 230

Troops - 600
19 hormagaunts
18 hormagaunts
30 termagaunts
Tervigon
3 warriors
- venom cannon

Elites - 145
Zoanthrope
Zoanthrope
Venom throne

Fast attack - 105
3 raveners

Exocrine

The models I have are the gaunts, tyrant, raveners, Warriors, exocrine. Tervigon is unassembled and could be a tyrranofex. The elites I haven't purchased yet. The reason for the venom cannon is eventually I'd like to get my hands on some biovores for the living artillery formation.

The idea is to move forward In a big group, screen with termagaunts for cover with venomthrope. Pop transports with tyrant, exocrine, and zoans. Then use hormagaunts and raveners to eat the squishy stuff.

Looks totally playable. But... Drop two Hormagaunts, and put Electro Grubs on the Tyrant. I'm not a user of Raveners, but they should do just fine.

When you do decide to move up in points, a second Tyrant is at the top of the list. That or the Biovore will add a huge amount of power to your force.

Biovore seems a good addition for me also, since the Living Artillery Node Formation is always something nice to have!
