Subject: [Request] Reference picture detailing all the Primarks and Legions ~
I've started reading through some of the 40k / Horus Heresy books and have often found myself confused as to who is who, or more importantly ~ remembering who is who.
Is anyone aware of a reference picture detailing each of the Primarks, their Legion number, Chapter, name, picture / description etc?
Sort of like a help sheet that I print off or have saved on my phone to easily look at as I read the stories.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is the collect visions book and then you could make your own.

Lexicanum is a pretty good source. You could make your own from the information/pictures on there. Be warned, though, the 'net is dark and full of spoilers.
Alternatively, the Horus Heresy Collected Visions has a ton of art and background on all aspects of the Heresy; primarchs included. It's worth the price for all the great info and eye candy inside.
I would definitely not suggest the lexicanum route, because spoilers, spoilers everywhere.
However, if you may have noticed, most (if not all) of the Horus Heresy books contain a character page at the very beginning. Most of the characters in the books are defined there. Otherwise, legion numbers dont reeeeaaaallllyyy matter, and descriptions will come up as characters appear.
I have found that the most easily confusable ones are Lorgar of the Word Bearers and Angron of the World Eaters. Just remember that Angron is Angry, probably cause he ate to many worlds.

This is definitely the best source for all things Horus Heresy. Awesome book to have, only problem is it's kinda difficult to carry around.

I look to the stars now, with the old scrolls burning runes across my memory. And I see my own hands as I write these words. Erebus and Kor Phaeron speak the truth.
My hands. They, too, are golden.

@JollyDevil ~ I'm actually listening to them on Audiobook, so unfortunately I don't have the reference pages that the books contain :(
Thanks for the heads up about spoilers though. That's why I was hoping someone might of made such a reference pic already. Not only do I not know the required stuff to make a "definitive reference dooda" (don't ya just hate it when you watch a "How To" video, only to realise this "expert" hasn't done this before and it's actually a "My First Attempt At" video ) ~ but also learning all this information to make it available when needed would be [Spoiler City!]
@EngulfedObject ~ Nice pics That's kinda what I'm looking for, but I'd personally prefer to have a little more data. I'm not entirely sure what extra data would be handy yet though, but I'm sure as I read more I will want for certain info easy to hand.
Legion numbers matter to me as I do not know them, and when I'm listening to a story and it suddenly stops referencing one side of a battle by their chapter name and starts saying "the 12th Legion do something important" I find I don't know who I should be picturing performing that action.
Although each character is described within the stories, as I am listening to audio novels I find it too easy to forget who certain descriptions apply to. I recall very well what characters have done, but not who they are or what they look like.
I definitely need something visual to lock this info in without breaking me out of the story each time "Name" does something. Every time they don't use someone's name and instead say "They might awesome fantastic orange clad warrior did something" I realise I don't know which of these characters is the orange one... o.O
Another one is when "Bob" and "Ted" are doing battle and it describes how the Primark has the upper hand, and I don't know if Bob or Ted is the Primark... o.O
Although, audio novels are easy to listen to so I do often have them on in the background and pick up on things I did not pick up on before. But repeat listening doesn't remove the confusion at the time, which is what I am aiming to solve.
Maybe single pictures for each character with info pasted on them, as I do a lot of listening whilst walking so I would be able to call up a characters picture on my phone and immediately access any required data.
Also, I gotta remember to stop doing that foolish grin I do as Astartes are firing their Bolt guns, and Hellfire rounds are exploding when I walk into shops... But it's all so mighty!
Most of my experience is from 1st to 2nd ed, when the 40k world was still being sketched out, and now it is all filled in and so colourful!

It took me a little bit to know which priarch is which. But after playing the game, reading the books, it all comes together.

^It does tell you which legion is traitor and which isn't though. Don't know if that counts as a spoiler for you.
The easiest way to avoid future confusion is really to just get familiar with all the legions. Lexicanum articles are pretty short. You could try reading the intro parts for each of the legions to get a general feel for them.
Also, I think most Horus Heresy books assume you're already somewhat familiar with the the events which is why they go into so much detail. I think they're pretty much impossible to follow without some understanding of the Great Crusade so I'd recommend reading up on that if you're not familiar already:

Wow this is pretty cool! Yea you could combine this with the lexicanum chart for a quick reference.

I hate how they made the Lion with long flowing blonde hair, he is too similar to sangy and fulgrim like that. My minds eye has him looking more like Stannis from GoT or of that ilk, and definitely with the grit and determination of him. A definite anti-hero.

I think they did it because there is a certain amount of vanity to his character, and apparently the only way to show vanity is to make someone skinny with long blonde hair. (although I do like your interpretation, as I think Stannis has a much bigger helping of vanity tan his appearance leads us to believe)

Oh certainly, that's what I like about him. Stature wise he isn't very imposing, when he addresses people he doesn't do so in a grand charismatic way or loud for that even, but he commands the room (All Stannis that is) but that's what the Lion is to me.
You are right though about how vanity is displayed, and it is really annoying.
