HAHAHAHAHA-NO

Hey guys, I've been thinking about starting some WHFB, and as aI understand it's taotally different from 40k. So, the thing is, in 40k I play the serious, order-minde,grim Imperial Astra Guard Militarum, so I want to try something light and humorous. My brothera lready plays 40k orks, and I don't want to do the Fantasy orks, which don't seeem as "Wha? Tha' was an ENGINE??! Wel why wasn't it on there ? Aw well...", you know? I really like skaven, an I think I might go with them, so, any advice?

The favorites are:
Skaven
Undead of some kind?
Maybe Khornate Daemons?
And Maybe Warriors of Chaos (love those heavy plate and broadsword things...)

Please no recommendations for Empire (already play IG), dwarves (Space Wolves-HATE THEM!!), elves of either kind (tired dark elves, just don't really likethem), lizardmen (love 'em, but my brother may play them, and just-eh), or the others.

BTW, has anyone noticed the space wolf-dwarf thing yet?

I am obviously a genius. Wether good or evil, well, that all depends on what I had for breakfast.

Skaven aren't the best beginners army to be perfectly honest. Whilst they're a strong army that I think would fit into what you're looking for, they have an outdated book, require a complicated FAQ in order to function and have a large start-up cost, in both time and money.

Now, I'm not really sure what's going on with them at the moment, and I haven't really been following the rumours. Whilst the new End Times and model releases suggest a new, upcoming army book (which would make them a much better army to start), I'm not entirely convinced one is actually coming. It will severely disappoint me if it comes true, but I wouldn't be surprised if GW left the Skaven as they are with the End Times acting as a pseudo new army book. If that's the case, I'd steer clear. The old problems will persist, and, whilst the new units may be good, you'll have to buy an expensive End Times book (as well as the regular army book) to use them.

Daemons and Undead, again, aren't fantastic beginners armies, since they ignore many of the important, core rules, and generally lack a shooting phase. Warriors of Chaos, on the other hand, whilst lacking shooting as well, are a good, strong army to start, as they're easy to learn, with a good book and a low start up cost. If Daemons interest you as well, you can combine the two (and Beastmen as well) into an End Times army if you so wish.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
