GThe game was never in a good state to begin with after the complete bungling of its Beta weekends, so I've just been bidding my time waiting. Chancing are not to long after the Console version is launched (supposed to be sometime this quarter, likely soon since the recalls are rolling in). Been bidding my time waiting, and I think it's right around the corner.

I am shocked that a formerly P2P MMO is now (maybe) going F2P. Who would have been able to foresee such a change?

I hope you are right; the subscription was the one thing putting me off this game. I know everyone seems to hate it and the servers are probably barren at this stage, but it's TES; I have to play it.

I'm assuming they have some sort of business model for this given that P2P MMOs are going the way of the dodo. Given the poor reviews the game received I'm wondering if this would drum up some more players. I had a vague interest in the game because of the series, but it just came across as a generic MMO with an Elder Scrolls skin from what I've seen (its a pity they didn't find a way of carrying over the loot system for one).

To me the game had the same problem as SWTOR. Despite the MMO in the genre label, it felt like such a single player game.

Why did they even bother making this dog mess game?

I think I read there was going to be a subscription fee for consoles, on top of what you already have to pay for xbox live or PSN.. is that still true?

You'll still have to buy the game, though.

It's pretty cheap now. Saw it for 8$ a few days back.

I might be willing to look into it once free. A shame they couldnt have just made Skyrim multiplayer and expanded the world quite a bit to include the other kingdoms and continents. I am not a picked on high schooler so I gives a rat's behind about PVP so balance issues there make no difference to me. Would have been easy to do too, plus tie in separate expanding neighborhoods in each city. Skyrim remains the best RPG out there three years later that I am aware of.

I'll give it a whirl if it goes FTP because of the series and to see if there is any redeeming questing features in it.
Its a tenner on Amazon iirc.

Oh is it mostly a PVP game? I was expecting skyrim online :/ Not really a fan of PVP, I suck too much.

It's almost purely PvE.

The game certainly has PVP. But as far as I know it isn't short on PVE content by any means. The PVP is mostly like Guild Wars' WvWvW, which is really casual zerg rush tactics rule the day kind of PvP. You should give it a try. The shenanigans are hilarious.

Oh, I read the PVP stuff and thought Bah Humbug. I'll check it out when the Xbone version comes out

I am laughing so hard at this. I forgot all about this game till I saw a game box sitting in a friends apartment the other week. So out of curiosity I decided to look up what has changed yesterday and thought to myself "huh, well if it was FTP I would get back into it." Today I saw the new cinematic and thought "that was awesome but still don't want to pay monthly." Right as I clicked away I saw a news feed saying it was going FTP.
