Well, a few more Ugly ships on the stands.
First up, a recreation of an old model kitbash I did...The X-TIE. As to my previous Red Baron:

We have his wingman: The Blue Max

And then, something different I tossed together from leftovers. Undecided on a on a name or paintjob (maybe white as part of the Black Sun Syndicate) this fast transport is designed to get small valuable cargos (vaccines, drugs, a Bothan with Death Star Plans, etc) past Imperial lines quickly and without notice.

Other past Ugly ships:
A Die-Ball

And a Y-TIE:

Cool!

I think the Phantom ugly is my favourite.

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

I remember the Y-TIE from the old West End Games Star Wars roleplaying game!

These are great!

I soooo tempted to get into FFGs X-Wing game.

Well Ogryn, just to tempt you even more...The game is based on the old Wing of Glory system and works really well. The rules are pretty simple and well balanced. Each ship type has various pilots each with a unique skill/ability. There are also generic abilities that you can 'pay' for more experienced pilots.
The games are shorter than 40K...by a lot. Tourny style games are usually 60-75 minutes, though many can be over as fast as 30 minutes (the X-Wing version of clubbing a seal). Cost is pretty low. The starter game can be gotten online for about $30 and has everything you need to start (though not enough ships for your average 100 point game). A typical small ship (X-Wing, TIE Fighter, etc) is $15. Larger ships (Millenium Falcons, Slave 1, etc) can run you between 25-40 dollars. The really big ships hit between 50-100...but are only used in Epic (300 points) and are not needed in the normal game. Not to mention the quality of the models and their ability to take new paint without any stripping or priming (though I usually scrape off the accent marks which are just stamped on paint.
So, for less than a 40K army you can get the starter pack and more than enough ships to build several lists from the different factions.
Since the game is easy and quick, even kids can get involved. My 10 yo girl just placed 4th in a FLGS Tourny, and my 8 yo boy is starting to play (amazing how fast and well his homework gets done so he can get in a game with dad).
