Hey Everyone,

I have 2x Ork Bommer planes that I'm considering magnetizing so I can use all 3 options. I'm not sure if it's worth it..

1. I've never Magnetized anything before. I bought some magnets, but I still need a good pinning drill. Is the whole magnetizing process difficult or time-consuming?
2. Is there more than one good option for the Ork Bommer?
3. Are there any good videos or tutorials about how to magnetize stuff?

Lastly what else is worth magnetizing, particularly in the Ork Army? I'm also thinking about magnetizing some Mek Gunz, when I get around to buying them.

I've just got in to magnets and you will not regret doing it. Just for the coolness of changing weapon options. I've just helped my brother magnetize his rip tide and he loves it. The only tips I would give are install all the magnets on the fuselage first and make sure they are ALL oriented exactly the same way. Either all southern pole out or all northern pole out. Doesn't matter which as long as they are all the same. To help do this I like to paint the repelling side so I know thats the side that needs to be glued in to your drilled cavity. if you get what Im saying. It can be a little tedious but no reason you can't do a whole bomber in one evening. Just be patient, it's extremely rewarding once it's done

Awesome.

Anyone else have any helpful tips or comments? I did manage to find a decent video on Youtube, but it didn't really show much of the process.

So,

A. Is it worth it?
B. Where are some good video/tutorials on magnetizing stuff?

It's worth it from a modelling standpoint, but not from a gaming standpoint right now as only the Dakkajet is really any good.

It does give you flexibility for if/when the rules change, and it's also totally sweet to remove bombs from the model as they are dropped.

It may be going a bit far for you but I like magnetizing all I can on the model so they are easier to put in a case and like droping the bombs you can play with the model. I wish I had magnetized the wings on my Dakkajet. It would be so much easier to put the thing away. I am working on my stompa right now and his arms, head and pipes are all magnetized. I saw a bat rep where a guy had put magnets in the top of the stompas head so when he placed models on top they would stick. What a great idea.

Insert inspiring text here.

I've done one, the only pain I had was magnetising the wings to the extra engine/gun mount, which was magnetized to the main body. Had to use a pin and a magnet to get it to not sag.

Other than that, all the missiles and everything else was quite straight forwards.

Had to build a lil bracket for the grot gunner or blank plate to magnetise to, and just made a choice with the canopys for the pilot.

The nose guns, filled the hollow on the gun with mulliput and then drilled the magnet hole in there, and the body of the jet, filled over and sanded so its invisible on the nose.

I was actually thinking of just buying an extra set of wings if I can get them cheap enough and glue the bombs to them. That way, all I need to do is switch the wings to whichever weapon layout I wanted. However, I do like the idea of having detachable bombs.

The main thing i need to know is: How do I get started magnetizing. I have some uberly tiny magnets because I was trying to magnetize Deffrollas 5 yrs ago, but I believe I'll need a pinning tool and some other supplies. Are there any beginner''s tutorials or tips and tricks someone could link?

Its not too tricky really.. you drill a a hole to match the diameter of the magnet, and glue it in, remembering to check the magnets polatiry too (they only stick one way around, do them backwards and they repel instead whoopsie hehe)

Your'e going to want a pin vice, and a selection of small drill bits. Perhaps a centre punch too (can use the point of a craft knife if you must) for a centre point.

I didn't do that, but I have a large, fairly powerful magnet in the my Stompa's head, and another secured under the neck plate. It lets me turn the head freely, and when it blows up---Kabooom! I take off the head and put some cotton smoke there! It's very satisfying for my opponent.
